As a scout, you learn; Always be prepared!

There are things that you can not prepare for , but being prepared for eventualities is something I have been trying to do.

In 2015 when I went to Kenya to shop for the restaurant decorations, I knew what I wanted to have.
I wanted to have a decent African/kenyan touch. I did not want a tourist attraction kind of vibe, I wanted a space that felt like home.

When Wambũi Wa Mũkuhĩ and I were talking about what to name our Podcast, the HOME was one of the things that made more sense. Being away from home, feeling far away from home and also finding HOME within you and the community you live in.

We were able to transform a part of my restaurant and make it HOME for our Podcast.
When I bought these seats in Diani-Kenya, I did not know that they would be a home for Far From Home Diaspora Podcast, I was just preparing for all eventualities.

When we sit here to have a conversation or invite guests, it’s like having them in our living room….it feels like home.

We recorded our last episodes in this year….Christmas Vibes….it still is surreal, Wambui and I are podcasters with more that 25 episodes out there🙏🏾!

Always be prepared!!!

In this episode, we have a special guest, Caroline Njoki Mwangi! Yes, the co-founder of AG Career Hub. You've probably seen her, helping students who come here to study or connecting major universities here with those in Kenya. She's a mother, a businesswoman, a woman of faith, and so much more.

But did you know that Carol Mwangi came to Germany as an au pair and decided to return home when things didn't work out here? She did, and in Nairobi, she ventured into the hotel and service industry, then started baking German bread and then selling sandwiches, a business she says was doing very well.

Then, she got a chance to come back to Germany, a decision that wasn't so easy for her to make. Find out more in this conversation, it is now online🌍

This is one of the BEST conversations we have had on this Podcast, and it is now Online!

Wambui is talking about education!

🎙 Carol, who is an experienced parent, is here to share her wisdom on navigating the German school system as a Diasporan parent. You won't believe the adventures she's had! 🌍

🎙 Wambui, on the other hand shares her experiences as a teacher of hearing-impaired students. She'll be shedding light on the challenges and triumphs of teaching using the beautiful language of signs.

This was a real eye-opener guys!

🎙 We're also unpacking some of the intriguing differences between the Kenyan and German education systems. From Nairobi to Berlin, education is a journey, and we're here to map it out for you!

But hey, folks, this topic is like an iceberg – we're only scratching the surface today!

🎙 Hallo dear podcasters. Our latest episode now online is a game-changer!

This week, we're thrilled to introduce our first-ever male guest. 🎉 The conversation was an absolute eye-opener, unlike anything we've had before. 🗣

First off, our guest, Lennart, has a better grasp of Kiswahili than Carol and me, despite us both being born and raised in Kenya! 🇰🇪 But here's the kicker—Kenya, his diaspora, is what we call home. 🏠
It was fascinating to find that the feeling of being far from home was something we nevertheless had in common. 😮 We talked about culture shock, homesickness, and the universal need for belonging. It was a real "aha" moment! ✨

And hold on tight, because we delved into a topic that truly surprised me—Malaria vaccines and the unexpected harm they can cause. 😱
Thank you so much for the love you've continued to show us. We really appreciate you 💚🩵💙🖤🤎🤍
So, what are you waiting for? Give us a listen, share the love, and hit that subscribe button! 🎧

Our Conversation this Wednesday!
Lennart Attenberger went to Kenya for a Voluntary Social Year. He was only 19 and he says that this one year changed his life.

He feels Kenyan…if we could just go by the way he speaks Swahili, he could be more Kenyan than Wambui and Carol😂😂😂!
This was a really fun conversation and we can’t wait for you to listen to his experiences in Kenya….

In this episode, we are looking back at the first time we took our boyfriends home. It's about how sometimes we did not trust them to tell the truth about our home situation and how important it is to communicate about everything and to not take simple things- like taking a matatu/motorbike or in fact reminding them, that they will be white in a black space - for granted.

It is also about how Wambui could not kiss let alone have s*x in her mother's house and a very funny story about an encounter with Marikiti rats.

Listen to it spread the word and follow and subscribe to our channel.
