There have been previous "outfakes" of "Sour Milk Sea," combining George Harrison's original demo with the backing from the Jackie Lomax studio version (on which George, Paul, Ringo and Eric Clapton played) in order to create a "Beatles" track. Here's a new one ...

It's finally here! Plenty have tried to create the definitive Sour Milk Sea out-fake, and the results have always been interesting—if not a little underwhelm...

Coming soon is Bruce Spizer's latest volume, which includes contributions from Beatlefan's Bill King and Al Sussman. Here's a news release ...

498 Productions, LLC is proud to announce that the final installment in Bruce Spizer’s Beatles Album Series will be available this summer. Bruce has completed writing, compiling and editing the book. Bruce and graphic designer Diana Thornton are carefully reviewing the text and tweaking the images. Diana will be sending the digital files to the printer in early April. The cover is ready to go!
From November 1964 through Summer 1965, the Beatles issued two albums (Beatles For Sale and Help!), three singles ("I Feel Fine," "Ticket To Ride" and "Help!") and a movie (Help!) in Great Britain. In the United States, Capitol Records reconfigured the two albums into three: Beatles '65, Beatles VI and the Help! Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. The label also released a two-record documentary album titled The Beatles' Story and added the singles "Eight Days A Week" and "Yesterday."
The ninth book in Bruce Spizer's acclaimed Beatles Album Series, Beatles For Sale to Help! covers these releases from the British, American and Canadian perspectives. The book contains highly detailed chapters on the EMI recording sessions for the albums and singles, and the album covers. And, like the other books in the Beatles Album Series, the book contains chapters on the news, music and films of the era (plus a special chapter on the Beatles and James Bond) to place these records and the Beatles second film in their proper context. And, of course, fan recollections of seeing the film Help! and listening to the great Beatles records issued during the time frame covered by the book. The recordings released during this creative period bridge the first phase of Beatlemania with the group's more mature sound that would be on full display with the albums Rubber Soul and Revolver.
Beatles For Sale to Help! is being published on August 12, 2025, to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the American release of the Beatles colorful second film, Help!. It is a 9" x 9" hardcover book matching the other books in Bruce Spizer's Beatles Album Series. The book is 272 pages long and contains 275 color and 11 original B&W images.
PRE-ORDERS BEGIN APRIL 4, 2025 AT 9:00 AM EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME
Those pre-ordering the book from 498 Productions at beatle.net shall receive their copy carefully packed in bubble-wrap in a custom-fitted box. All books shall be signed by Bruce, and purchasers can request personalization. In addition, pre-ordered books shall be shipped to our customers at least a month in advance of the August 11, 2025 street date. Be sure to let your friends know about the new book!

Peet’s Coffee has announced it will no longer charge extra for plant-based milks. The decision comes just days after Sir Paul McCartney, a longtime advocate for animal welfare, penned an open letter to the East Bay company urging it to eliminate the $1 surcharge for vegan milk.
“I am really happy to hear this!” McCartney said in a statement Saturday, March 15.
Ingrid Newkirk, president of PETA, also celebrated the decision.
“With a little help from our friend Sir Paul McCartney, PETA notched a swift win for animals, the planet, and kind consumers, who shouldn’t be punished for making the ethical and healthy choice to ditch dairy,” she said in a statement.
The Beatles star’s letter to Peet’s President and CEO Eric Lauterbach earlier this month emphasized the environmental benefits of plant-based milks and their alignment with the company’s sustainability practices.

Paul McCartney and PETA succeed in getting Peet’s Coffee to eliminate the surcharge for plant-based milks.

Bill King covered the Southern and Georgia music scenes from 1976 to 1986, writing about a broad range of acts that included classic rock, new wave, country outlaws, mainstream Nashville, soul music, modern R&B and disco, and even a little gospel. “LARGE TIME: On the Southern Music Beat, 1976-198....

From Super Deluxe Edition: Now That’s What I Call Music continue their CD collections of 1980s twelve-inch mixes with a new 4CD set: NOW 12″ 80s: 1984 Part Two. There’s a few notable rarities, such as the 8.10 Extended Mix of the ‘Playout’ version of Paul McCartney’s ‘No More Lonely Nights’, which has thus far only appeared on CD on the 1993 reissue of Give My Regards to Broad Street (the 6.53 Arthur Baker ‘Special Dance Mix’ remains unreleased on CD). It has to be said that NOW are doing good work in getting out rare Macca remixes (with the man himself apparently uninterested) since over the last few years they have so far having delivered on CD the Extended Mixes of ‘Say Say Say’, ‘Once Upon A Long Ago’ and now ‘No More Lonely Nights’. Let’s hope John ‘Tokes’ Potoker’s 1986’s remix of ‘Pretty Little Head’ will be in their sights in the future, although that single wasn’t it hit, so that may well be an issue. (Thanks to Si Rogers)
