Born in August of 1981, Mike grew up just a stoneโs throw from Butlerโs Orchard, on a property owned by his mother. His father, a talented builder and jack-of-all-trades, would eventually help construct the family home there. From a young age, Mike was captivated by the craftsmanship and machinery that surrounded him. Heโd watch his father turn raw materials into something functional and beautiful, and before long, he was right there beside himโlearning, helping, and developing a lifelong love of โreal manโs toys.โ
It wasnโt long before Mike found his own way into the world of construction. In high school, he started a simple lawn mowing operation. Over the years, that seed of a business has grown into what is now Broadleaf Grounds Worksโa full-service construction, landscaping, and materials company with an impressive fleet that includes backhoes, chippers, stump grinders, tree cranes, skid loaders, hook-lift trucks, and more.
Broadleaf isnโt just a service providerโtheyโre a community hub. From large-scale utility digs and complex tree removals to custom-designed patios, retaining walls, and landscaping, Mike and his team handle it all. They also operate a fully stocked supply yard open to both contractors and homeowners, offering everything from mulch, topsoil, sod, and straw to decorative stone, grass seed, boulders, and outdoor building materials. Mike himself is hard to missโa stout figure with bright orange hair and a matching beard. At first glance, he might look tough, but it wonโt take more than a moment to be greeted by his signature warm smile. Heโs a big-hearted guy with a strong work ethic, a love for people, and a genuine desire to give backโvalues passed down from his father.
โMy dad taught me that hard work and helping others arenโt just good valuesโtheyโre the right thing to do,โ Mike says. โAnd good things come back around when you do good.โ
