Subject: Demand for Constitutional Open Election for Appointment of Vice Chairman and Members of West Bengal Tamang Culture Development Board
Dear Honorable Chief Minister,
I'm writing to bring to your attention the urgent need for constitutional open elections in appointing the Vice Chairman and members of the West Bengal Tamang Culture Development Board. Over the past decade, the Board has faced numerous challenges due to political interference, nepotism, and corruption.
The Board was established in 2014 to promote and preserve Tamang culture, language, and traditions. However, its effectiveness has been hindered by controversies surrounding the appointment process. Specifically, the interference of central leaders from Tamang Yuva Sangh and the lack of branch-to-branch voting have compromised the Board's integrity.
To address these concerns, I respectfully demand that the appointment process be reformed to ensure constitutional and open elections. This would involve representatives from each branch and organization of the All India Tamang Buddhist Sangh and Tamang Youth Association participating in the selection process.
Such reforms would foster transparency, fairness, and accountability within the Board, ultimately benefiting the Tamang community. I urge you to take necessary steps to address these issues and work towards the betterment of the Tamang community.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Shamson Tamang
