A tapestry of history, gratitude, and pride unfolded at Basista National High School on July 14, 2025, as it celebrated its 54th Founding Anniversary. The celebration drew together students, faculty, alumni, local leaders, and community members to honor more than half a century of academic milestones.
The day began with a Thanksgiving Mass at 8:30 a.m., officiated by Rev. Fr. Hernan C. Caronongan, setting a reflective and solemn tone for the celebration. This was followed by a wreath-laying to honor Mr. Pepito R. Frias, who laid the groundwork for the school's continued success.
Mrs. Alice M. Galsim, School Principal IV, delivered the Opening Remarks, welcoming guests and sharing the journey of the school throughout the passing years. A nostalgic moment came with the Reading of the History of Basista NHS, narrated by Mr. Diosdado I. Resultay, Head Teacher III of the MAPEH Department. His account traced the humble beginnings of the school and paid homage to the visionaries and educators who have shaped its path.
One of the eventβs most touching highlights was a special message of Mr. Pompeius Frias, son of Mr. Pepito R. Frias - the beloved founder of BNHS. Their words served as a heartfelt reminder of the school's origins and the enduring impact of a single vision for education in the town of Basista.
A series of inspirational messages followed, with encouraging words from Mr. John Glen Ermino, SK Chairman of Brgy. Poblacion, who represented the Brgy. Poblacion Captain, Hon. Mario F. Ramos; and Mr. Arthuro Parazo from the Municipal Office who represented Hon. Jake Niccole L. Perez, Municipal Vice-Mayor, and Hon. Jolly R. Resuello, Municipal Mayor. All emphasized the value of education in community building and expressed their continued support for the institution.
The Sports Festival commenced in the afternoon with various sports, most highlighted, Basketball and Volleyball games. These physical activities filled the school with joyous and powerful enthusiasm among the students and the teachers
As BNHS turns 54, it stands as a beacon of education in Pangasinan, with its legacy not just etched in buildings and books, but in the lives of the thousands it has nurtured through the decades.
