You may have missed the initial post. It looks to have been removed. It's a great one!

She struggled with selective mutism as a child.
Now she speaks to the world through music. 🎹✨

In this week’s episode of The More Than Your Age Podcast, I’m joined by Benita Rose, an award-winning concert pianist whose journey proves it is never too late to step into your calling.
Benita grew up with selective mutism, finding her voice not through words—but through music. What started as healing became purpose, and what began quietly led to a powerful second act later in life—touring, performing, and inspiring audiences around the world.

We talk about:
• Turning obstacles into superpowers
• The healing power of music 🎶
• Vulnerability, authenticity, and personal growth
• Why age is never a deadline—especially for women
If you’ve ever felt a pull toward something more… this episode is for you.

"I’m a better mom because I get to write."

Sometimes our dreams need to wait, and sometimes we can steward those dreams now and they make us a better mom, wife, sister, friend, daughter, etc. It looks different for each person in each season. But maybe you have that itch to pursue the thing that makes you come alive.

Tune in to hear how is managing both writing and motherhood, and why her specific writing and memoir mean so much to her.

Happy 3 years to The More Than Your Age Podcast!!! I truly cannot believe it’s already been 3 years. What a joy this passion project of mine has become. I am honored to interview all the roughly 100 women I’ve had the privilege of speaking with. Their stories have transformed me and have helped/encouraged so many other women. They truly are remarkable and inspirational. I’m honored they would trust me to tell their stories and I’m humbled you would take the time to listen to a topic that is so important for me.

We as women often view our age in such a negative light. I’ve heard it a million times, and I keep hearing it. No matter if you are young, in the middle, or living those wisdom years. Part of the reason I started this podcast was because I had left my career to stay home. I heard everything from “I wish I could do that,” to “You’re not going to use your brain,” to “You’ll be so far behind and removed from the workforce when you want to return that you won’t matter or won’t get hired,” and so on. At the same time, I kept hearing negative comments about all the different seasons people were in—“I’m not married,” “I don’t have kids,” “I wish I had kids,” “I wish I could travel,” “I wish I had someone,” “If only this or that”—and the list just kept going. So I got tired of it. And thought, I know so many people who avoid these limitations that their stories could encourage and help other women. So I reached out to them. And thankfully, they said yes. Then that grew to referrals, then complete strangers (now distant friends), to PR pitches from people all over the world. And guess what? These women’s stories defy the negative age stereotypes (whether that’s old or young), and I LOVE IT! God has placed us where we are for a reason. What are we going to do with it? Through the hard and easy, there’s a purpose, and a purpose He has for you. It doesn’t have to be grand, but if it matters to you, it matters.

If you need the encouragement, and haven’t done so already, tune in. If you want to hear amazing stories, tune in. If you’re in a rough patch in your life, tune in. Some of these women have gone through some insanely challenging setbacks. YET, it hasn’t stopped them. Take a listen, thank you for those who do listen, and thank you to my incredible guests. All of you truly mean so much to me. So… Happy 3 years to The More Than Your Age Podcast! Let’s see what you keep doing!
