A Hawaiian spinner dolphin calf takes a remora for a wild ride! As their name suggests, spinner dolphins are well known for their unique acrobatic displays; completing as many as 7 full rotations while in the air. The velocity of these jumps is enough to dislodge a pesky, hitchhiking fish… but maybe only briefly. This calf had to jump about a half dozen times to shake free of this persistent remora!

“Capturing this composition whilst freediving was a challenge pushing me to my limits but so worth it. The beauty of freediving is it allows you to enter the underwater world with little disruption to their environment. Hold your breath and remaining calm allows the marine life to become comfortable with you in their environment and like to get up close and personal allowing you to take some incredible shots of them cruising passed. Once I found myself in this position beneath the shark I was having to push my breath hold to the limits before I could escape out of there without disturbing the shark.”

BREAKING – Yesterday, 246 pilot whales were killed in Leynar, , including at least 30 pregnant females and their unborn calves.

Our crew on the ground has revealed the true scale and cruelty of this Grindadráp. While officials claimed a 15-minute hunt, our footage shows over 30 minutes of chaos, plus an hour of terror as the pod was driven into the killing beach.

Newborns, discarded. Mothers, gutted. Some whales struck by boat propellers.

This isn’t tradition. It’s a crisis.

“Galaxies in her eyes.” — A stunning close-up by of a female humpback whale’s eye, revealing its mesmerizing detail.

“There’s much to be said about this season’s encounters and swimming with whales in general. Over the years, I’ve noticed that many people come wanting to be seen with the whales, rather than truly see them.

Our goal should always be to respect these animals and their space, observing their behavior without disturbing it. Whales are here to rest, mate, give birth, and nourish their young. Chasing after them only drains the energy they need during their 6-8 month fast.

Swimming with these majestic beings is a privilege, and respecting their space is crucial—there’s no need to chase after or force interactions. On rare occasions, whales may choose to interact on their own terms.

This moment of eye contact was beyond my wildest dreams. I’ve never encountered a whale like this one, and it was the most profoundly beautiful experience of my life.” — Rachel Moore
