Did you know that humpback whale calves drink up to 100 gallons of milk a day while nursing from their mothers? 🐋👶 The bond between mother and calf is incredibly strong, with the mother guiding and protecting her baby on their long migration journey. Diving with a mother and baby humpback whale is a heartwarming glimpse into the nurturing side of these ocean giants. 🐋

A Hawaiian spinner dolphin calf takes a remora for a wild ride! As their name suggests, spinner dolphins are well known for their unique acrobatic displays; completing as many as 7 full rotations while in the air. The velocity of these jumps is enough to dislodge a pesky, hitchhiking fish… but maybe only briefly. This calf had to jump about a half dozen times to shake free of this persistent remora!

“Capturing this composition whilst freediving was a challenge pushing me to my limits but so worth it. The beauty of freediving is it allows you to enter the underwater world with little disruption to their environment. Hold your breath and remaining calm allows the marine life to become comfortable with you in their environment and like to get up close and personal allowing you to take some incredible shots of them cruising passed. Once I found myself in this position beneath the shark I was having to push my breath hold to the limits before I could escape out of there without disturbing the shark.”
