There are a lot of myths about who the ADA actually protects. Let’s clear a few of them up

❌ Myth: The ADA only protects wheelchair users.
✅ Fact: It covers a wide range of disabilities, not just mobility.

❌ Myth: Invisible disabilities don’t count.
✅ Fact: Chronic illness, autoimmune conditions, ADHD, PTSD, and more are covered.

❌ Myth: Mental health isn’t covered.
✅ Fact: The ADA includes depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, and more.

The ADA was meant to reduce barriers and discrimination, but it’s often misunderstood. Knowing who is protected is the first step toward real accessibility.

This year, we’re “honoring” Bob Iger, Josh D’Amaro, Jeff Vahle, and Ken Potrock with Scrooge Awards for their impressive feat of prioritizing profits over people. Their award proudly reads:

"Prioritizing profits over the safety and well-being of disabled guests has led to the denial of accommodations for thousands who require assistance. This situation is made worse by the sale of the same Lightning Lane spots, which were previously used by these disabled individuals, for as much as $400 a day. Scrooge would be proud."

Some of the heartbreaking alleged stories from Top 10 Worst DAS Rejections of 2024 include:
💔 A 9-year-old cancer patient denied a DAS pass despite being immunocompromised.
💔 A terminal cancer patient hoping for a final family vacation turned away without accommodations.
💔 A nonverbal autistic child left overwhelmed and in meltdown mode after being denied support.
💔 A veteran told if they die in a queue at least they would die in their happy place.

Disney was once known for its magic and inclusivity—but denying disabled guests the help they need while profiting off the same Lightning Lanes is the opposite of magical.

We’re calling on Disney to take accountability, fix the DAS program, and restore their parks as safe, welcoming spaces for everyone.

Do better, Disney. Even Scrooge changed his ways. Will you?
