TAO MARTIAL ARTS & LIFESTYLE MAGAZINE MARCH/APRIL/MAY DUE OUT VERY SOON
We are Back! The Relaunch Issue!
Tao Martial Arts & Lifestyle Magazine is back with its all new Relaunch Issue! We have a new look and an even better approach to showcasing the Martial Arts and Lifestyle methods of our contributors!
We have a whole heap of new Article submissions, and our aim is to place a positive spotlight on lesser-known arts, instructors and teachers, including important lifestyle methods. To do the arts within our pages all takes up time, so this issue of Tao has been a little harder to get going. I'm basically the Magazine Owner, Editor, Layout Designer, and Graphic Artist, I'm an almost one-man show. No excuses, just the facts!
Please know that we are here for you!
Why so long between Issues?
After the last issue in 2024, I needed to take a sabbatical from the Magazine, teaching the Martial Arts and other aspects of life due to a very personal battle against Barrett's oesophagus carcinoma, a condition where there is an abnormal change in the cells lining the lower portion of the oesophagus due to chronic damage from gastro-oesophageal reflux disease. People with this disease have a 30x increased lifetime risk of developing oesophageal adenocarcinoma.
It involves endoscopy (oesophago-gastro-duodenoscopy/OGD) and biopsies taken every 2cm on initial detection. Then a number of endoscopies are performed, tracking the progression of the disease and removing any growths or Esophageal varices. These varices are enlarged veins in the esophagus, the tube that connects the throat and stomach. Esophageal varices most often happen in people with serious liver diseases. I have Cirrhosis of the liver, which involves permanent scarring in the liver, which can’t be undone.
Esophageal varices form when regular blood flow to the liver is blocked by a clot or scar tissue in the liver. To go around the blockages, blood flows into smaller blood vessels that aren't designed to carry large volumes of blood. The vessels can leak blood or even burst, causing life-threatening bleeding. There was even a concern that I may have Pancreatitis.
Anyhow having several endoscopies surgeries throughout 2023 / 2024 My recent diagnosis (early 2025) showed that I am (for now at least), in the clear with more follow up tests Ultrasounds, blood tests and endoscopies are scheduled throughout this year.
But I am back and dedicated to making Tao Martial Arts & Lifestyle Magazine the very best Free publication around!
