It is excellent to be here with 100 Made in Midlands and Made in Yorkshire members to network and raise the profile of UK manufacturing. We are also joined by local MPS and Ministers that have joined todays festivities 🎅

🇬🇧 Great to be down in Westminster with 100 manufacturers part of Made in the Midlands and Made in Yorkshire to raise the profile of UK manufacturing to a number of MPs, Ministers who’ve come to listen. The jewel in the crown of our economy is our private manufacturing ownership - many are owner-managed businesses who don’t have a focused share of voice. We are part of the UK growth agenda 🇬🇧

🤩 We are ONE week away from the Annual Westminster event, and this year we are making it even more special with a Christmas theme! 🎄🎅🥂

The Annual Westminster and Christmas Drinks Celebration takes place on the 6th of December. It will also feature the presentation of "The Finest Hour" awards at the prestigious Terrace Pavilion at the House of Commons in Westminster, surrounded by stunning views of the River Thames.

To ensure that members have a chance to fully immerse themselves in the festive spirit, we are also introducing a series of unofficial "Sessions".

These sessions include:
🎁 Pre-Event Evening Drinks (Covent Garden, Tuesday 5th of December)
🎁 Post Event Drinks (Westminster, Wednesday 6th of December)

This morning, we hosted The Monthly Industry Meet with speakers from FC Laser, IMK Automotive and Made in Group ⭐

Daryl Lowe Managing Director at FC Laser shared his company’s inspiring journey from writing on whiteboards to a data-driven control system providing real-time visibility, capacity planning and automated reporting. Thanks to the change, FC Laser has become more productive, efficient and agile. Key to the transition was overcoming the ‘fear of change’ by embedding a culture of ‘continuous improvement’ and having a dedicated System Integration Manager.

Fiona Tatton Founder and CEO of Womanthology discussed how companies with strong ‘employer branding’ typically see a 50% reduction in cost per hire and a 28% reduction in staff turnover. An insight-packed overview from Fiona highlighted how creating a powerful employer brand can boost recruitment, retention and productivity, while helping create a more diverse, inclusive workforce.

Fernanda Santos Environmental Engineer shared her top tips for starting a sustainable manufacturing journey that covered the three ‘pillars’ of change, the role of science-based targets, the importance of calculating emissions and much more. Her number one suggestion is to “invest in renewable energy as soon as possible; there’s no quicker or easier way to reduce your carbon footprint!”
