This week, we’re examining one of our absolute favorite blasts-from-the-past, “A Simple Wish”! Martin Short stars as a bumbling fairy godmother tasked with granting the wish of a young girl played by Mara Wilson, and hilarious antics ensue! Listen in wherever podcasts are available!
Episode 99 - A Simple Wish

A novice fairy godmother (Martin Short) tries to grant a girl’s wish, but runs afoul of a witch and a giant rabbi. Taylor & Nick obsess over one of their favorite obscure movies: A Simple Wish (1997). Martin Short and Mara Wilson star.

It seems only fitting that we end our Werewolf Marathon with the third installment to “The Howling” franchise - which takes viewers on a journey down to the Australian outback & encounter quite literally some of the most bizarre and wildest moments ever put to film! Listen in wherever podcasts are available!
Episode 98 - Howling III - The Marsupials
There is really no way to properly summarize Howling III - The Marsupials (1987), a movie where werewolves with kangaroo-like pouches live in communes in the Outback. It’s both a unique deconstruction of the werewolf myth and an outrageously stomach-churning experience. Join us down under for the final film in our werewolf marathon.

Continuing our exploration of lesser known werewolf movies, today we take a look at “An American Werewolf in Paris” - the forgotten “follow-up” to the 1981 horror-comedy classic “… in London”! A group of extreme sports enthusiasts get more than they bargained for when meeting a beautiful and mysterious woman who changes their lives forever. Listen in wherever podcasts are available!
Episode 97 - An American Werewolf in Paris

Our werewolf marathon continues with An American Werewolf in Paris (1997). Here, Taylor & Nick encounter frat boys bungee jumping off the Eiffel Tower, music by Smash Mouth, and a tasty recipe for human-heart smoothies. Your hosts compare and contrast the film with the original, discuss the use of CGI vs. practical effects, and proclaim their love for That Thing You Do!, a much better movie starring the same lead actor, Tom Everett Scott.

Over the next three weeks, we’ll be taking a look at some obscure or forgotten Werewolf movies! First up is an adaptation of a Stephen King novelette, “Silver Bullet” - which features a screenplay written by King himself. A young boy, his headstrong sister and their uncle attempt to uncover the mystery behind a series of murders in their sleepy Maine town! Listen in wherever podcasts are available!
Episode 96 - Silver Bullet

There’s a full moon for the next three episodes as your hosts undertake a marathon of werewolf movies. We begin with Stephen King’s Silver Bullet (1985). Brutal killings are putting a small town on edge. While the townspeople suspect a homicidal killer, a young boy (Corey Haim) believes a different kind of monster is on the loose!

This week, we revisit one of the most bizarre and strange sequels to a series of films ever, “Trail of the Pink Panther”. Meant to conclude the various escapades of Inspector Closeau, this film was made following the death of star Peter Sellers primarily using footage from other films in the franchise for an utterly baffling experience!
Episode 96 - Trail of the Pink Panther

Two years after his death, Peter Sellers was “resurrected” for the seventh installment in the Pink Panther franchise. This time Nick & Taylor discuss the history of the series, debate the morality of using an actor’s likeness without their consent, and obsess over one of Hollywood’s most bizarre products as they follow the Trail of the Pink Panther (1982).

On this week’s episode, we are reunited with the head of our research department (Megan) to discuss a childhood favorite movie of ours, Phantom of the Megaplex! A group of kids working at their local movie theater attempt to unravel the mystery of the supposed spectre that haunts the hallways & hijinks ensue!
Episode 94 - Phantom of the Megaplex

Taylor & Nick are joined by their long-lost researcher, Megan, to discuss one of their favorite Disney Channel Original Movies, Phantom of the Megaplex (2000). A series of strange occurrences plague the world premiere of “Midnight Mayhem” at a local megaplex. Is it coincidence or sabotage?! Your hosts obsess over the film, dive into the history of DCOMs, and compare moviegoing in the 90s/00s with today.

In 1978, Christopher Reeve took on the role of playing Superman and it only took less than decade for his series of films to go completely off the rails with “Superman IV: The Quest for Peace”! Notoriously remembered for being one of the worst superhero movies of all time, this movie features something for everyone including nuclear weapons, fights on the moon, roasted duck, gardening tools, product placement and so much more!
Superman IV: The Quest for Peace

Celebrate the release of James Gunn’s Superman with the wonderfully atrocious Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987). When Superman decides to rid the world of nuclear weapons, Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman) engineers a super-powered beefcake called Nuclear Man to take down the Man of Steel. Stupendously camp, outrageously cheap, and unbelievably fun, Taylor & Nick have plenty to obsess over this week.

Happy Fourth of July! In the time-honored tradition of barbecues, fireworks and family gatherings, it only makes sense to get everyone together and celebrate this holiday by watching the 1971 low-budget classic “Frogs”!
Episode 92 - Frogs (July 4th Special)

Is there any better way to celebrate July 4th than watching a movie where an old lady is hunted down by swamp critters while catching butterflies? Of course not! At a birthday party down south, the local wildlife starts plucking off the guests. Is it nature or revenge??? Discover the truth as Taylor & Nick obsess over the 1971 “eco-thriller”, Frogs, starring a pre-mustache-wearing Sam Elliott.

Mel Brooks has brought audiences some of the move quotable and hilarious comedies of all time - including The Producers, Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles and Spaceballs. But he is also responsible for “High Anxiety”, the subject of this week’s episode which is a supposedly “comedic” spin on the films of Albert Hitchcock. Listen in wherever podcasts are available!
Episode 91 - High Anxiety

Nick & Taylor book themselves into Psycho-Neurotic Institute for the Very, Very Nervous, the primary setting of Mel Brooks’ Hitchcockian spoof, High Anxiety (1977). Find out where your hosts rank this movie in the pantheon of Brooks’ career of cinematic hits and misses.

Space truly is the final frontier, so it only makes sense for Britain’s top secret agent 007 to launch into the atmosphere on arguably one of his silliest missions ever! “Moonraker” puts James Bond in some ridiculous situations but does provide some truly hilarious results - give it a listen wherever podcasts are available!
Episode 90 - Moonraker

Bond fans are split on Moonraker (1979). With its outlandish plot and camp-laden humor, some consider the film a guilty pleasure. Other fans find little-to-no pleasure in this Star Wars knockoff. Listen and discover if Nick & Taylor want to blast off or shut off Moonraker.

13/06/2025

While Jim Carrey is best known for classic goofy movies such as “The Mask” and “Dumb & Dumber”, he began to dip his toe into the off- beat & subversive with this late 90s dark comedy “The Cable Guy”. Also starring Matthew Broderick, Leslie Mann, Jack Black and directed by Ben Stiller, this is one of your hosts’ favorite overlooked performances by Jim Carrey!
Episode 89 - The Cable Guy

On this week’s episode, your hosts revisit The Cable Guy (1996). A socially awkward cable installer (Jim Carrey) becomes obsessed with one of his customers (Matthew Broderick). This dark comedy was not a big hit in its day; however, Taylor and Nick think it features one of Carrey’s best performances. Listen in to find out why!
