The Finance Minister of Punjab Harpal Singh Cheema on Mar. 10 presented the Budget of the government worth Rs 1,96,462 crore. In his introductory speech, Cheema said, “the corrupt, who looted the state, are behind the bars.”

The Punjab government on Mar.5th suspended seven jail officials in connection with the Goindwal jail gang war that took place last month in Tarn Taran district of the state. Out of the seven officials suspended, five policemen were arrested, including the Superintendent of Central Jail, Goindwal Sahib for dereliction of duty and connivance with gangsters.

The owner of a consultancy office was shot on stomach by two assailants who were going to rob his SUV on Ludhiana- Amritsar national highway. He drove the robbers away with fierce resistance and drove himself to the hospital which was about 16 kilometers away.
