Can you paint with all the colors of the wind? 😅

Indian peafowl are native to India and Sri Lanka but have been introduced to many other parts of the world. Their natural habitats include open forests, shrublands, and grasslands, especially near water sources, though they also adapt to cultivated lands and human habitations.

Have you ever wondered why ravens and vultures have such a negative reputation? The answers may surprise you. Take a look at one of my latest stories for Fort Worth Weekly.

Perched among mist-covered leaves at the Fort Worth Zoo, the jagged black silhouette of a raven is a ghostly shadow in the morning light. He is quiet, watching. Next to him, a chocolate-brown cinerous vulture stares, unbothered, as she keeps watch over their habitat. The peaceful scene hardly fits t...

My story about the gharials. 🐊💚

Ripples barely move across the water as giant crocodilians glide effortlessly just beneath the surface. Like ghosts from a prehistoric age, the gharials are graceful, unsettling, and sneaky. Despite their size — males can grow to 16 feet long and weigh 1,500 pounds — they move with impressive st...

The unusual beauty of the gharial is silent & sleek. Their ancestors date back to ancient, pre-dinosaur times. Unlike other crocodillians, gharials are not a threat to humans. They are solely fish-eaters. Gharials are also critically endangered, with fewer than 1,000 believed to remain in the wild in the rivers of India and Nepal. Males can grow to 16-20 feet long, weighing 1,500 pounds or more. Mature males also have a bulbous growth at the tip of their snout known as a ghara, which is used to make sounds to communicate and attract females. I have an even greater respect for these beautiful, intelligent animals after having the opportunity to photography them upclose in a protected area at the Fort Worth Zoo. (This area is not open to the public).
