✨ Daughter of the Moon Goddess ✨

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!! Are you doing anything to celebrate?

I've been eating a lot of mooncake (lotus seed paste is sooo good) over the last few weeks. I also reread this duology, and it was so fun! It's a retelling inspired by the legend of the Moon Goddess, and it feels very fresh and magical.

✨ The Dragon Republic ✨

Look how beautiful this collector edition is!! Can't wait to see what the final book will look like. I love the redesigned covers and the edges.

I'll share more pictures of The Poppy War collector edition later (I made the mini versions out of order, but I was too excited to wait to post this 😅).

I really like how publishers are starting to do their own special editions, without the special edition prices or scarcity.

✨ Our Dark Duet ✨

"Plenty of humans are monstrous, and plenty of monsters know how to play at being human." (fun fact: this line from Vicious inspired this series)

This is one of my favorite V.E. Schwab books! Part of the Monsters of Verity duology, it is so beautifully written, emotional, and even better than the first book. Highly, highly recommend.

QOTD: What's the last book you couldn't put down? For me, it's The Poet Empress!

✨ Katabasis ✨

What was your favorite subject in school?

Katabasis is a story of a hero's journey through hell. It's a detailed study into the world of academia: philosophical paradoxes, logic & proofs, and backstabbing phD advisors. In essence, this was like Hell for academics x Alice in unWonderland. I enjoyed the Greek mythology references and the side characters (the villains were very interesting).

While I loved Kuang's previous books, it felt difficult to be invested here without being in academia myself. My days in school are over (with no plans to return).

Read this if you'd like to go back to school. In Hell.

Which genres or tropes do you like to read in the summer?

I feel like cute romance novels are perfect for summer, and I'm pretty excited for this one: my friend's debut. Coming this September, it's the first in a romance series about medical students. Fun fact: the author used to be a doctor, so she definitely knows what's she's writing about!
