What an incredible experience moderating the event "Are Lithuanians Abroad the Key Drivers of Lithuania's Start-up Growth?"! 💥 🎥 🚀

🌍 We had over 30 participants registered from around the globe, including the USA, Germany, Lithuania, and beyond! 🇱🇹 🇺🇸 🇳🇴 🇮🇪 🇬🇧

The discussion was engaging, insightful, and filled with optimism about the future of Lithuania's booming startup ecosystem. Here is my summary:

A huge highlight was the chance to hear from Lithuania’s Minister of Economics and Innovation, Aušrinė Armonaitė, who shared key milestones in Lithuania’s economic success, focusing on two critical areas: investment and innovation.

She humorously quoted Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, saying,

"If you want to put people to sleep, talk to them about two things: investment and innovation."

While these topics can seem dry, Minister Armonaitė stressed how they have been the driving force behind Lithuania’s economic development in recent years.

Several impactful initiatives have contributed to this success:
1. The establishment of a Lithuanian hub in Silicon Valley.
2. Doubling the number of economic attachés worldwide, including the invaluable support of Inga Rovbutas, Lithuania’s Commercial Attaché in Germany, who helped me moderate the event.
3. Attracting major international businesses and incubators like Plug and Play Tech Center.

Vaida Greičiūtė, Co-founder of Corner Case Technologies , shared how her experience in the USA equipped her with the resilience needed for entrepreneurial success—relating moving to a new country to starting a new business: filled with uncertainty, but ultimately driven by action.

“Everything is done by doing—go and do it.”

Danielius Uznys Chief of Staff at Nord Security spoke about his journey of professional growth in the UK, how the pandemic brought him back to Lithuania, and the importance of networking. He encouraged attendees to reach out to startups directly, even if no job postings are available.

“Showcase your profile,” he advised.

Special thanks to Commercial Attacheé of the Republic of Lithuania to Germany Inga Rovbutas, Vice-Minister at the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation Neringa Morozaite-Rasmussen, and LEO in Berlin Club for the opportunity to moderate such a powerful event.

I’m truly grateful to be part of such an inspiring and driven global Lithuanian community! 🌍🇱🇹

Lithuania: know it, love it

Lithuania, that little country you thought was Latvia, has a flourishing economy, a burgeoning cultural scene, and a surprisingly prominent international profile in world affairs. Despite this, my lovely Baltic homeland remains an enigma to a lot of my friends outside the country.

One big reason for this is a lack of resources about the country for outsiders. If you try to find information about what Lithuania is all about online, you’ll soon notice there aren’t a lot of great introductions to the country for those who are curious. So, a friend of mine and I came up with a solution - we decided to start a podcast that will feature interviews with some of Lithuania’s brightest leaders and thinkers in a format geared towards an international audience. What better way to introduce a nation to the world than through its people?

So, we’d like to introduce our new podcast, Lithuanian Dream, a podcast by Lithuanians but for the world. We hope you’ll follow us here on Soundcloud or Facebook. But before you do, whet your appetite for all things Lithuania by checking out some of the best introductions to the country below.

We are Ruta Naujokaite & Vytaute Rimkute, co-founders of Lithuanian Dream Podcast. Join us on our journey of seeing Lithuania through the eyes of dreamers who built this country.
