Burkina Faso seized 816,000+ counterfeit pills as part of Operation PANGEA, a global crackdown led by INTERPOL with 89 countries involved.

GoldBod has revoked all PMMC ASM licenses since April 2025, taking full control of artisanal and small-scale mining to fight illegal gold trading.

New warning from GoldBod: Ghanaian citizens caught fronting for foreigners will be prosecuted under Act 1140.

Prior to the Asankragua bust, 6 foreign nationals (3 Indians among them) were arrested for attempting to smuggle gold—3 deported, 3 facing trial.

Asankragua Gold Smuggling Update – July 3, 2025 🚨

The GoldBod Taskforce has confirmed the arrest of 10 Chinese nationals involved in illegal gold trading in Asankragua, Western Region. Seized from the operation were:

– 1.3 kg of gold (worth GH¢1.4 million)

– GH¢1.3 million in cash

– 12 pump-action guns with ammunition

– Casino cards and smuggling records

🛑 No deportation! The suspects will be arraigned under GoldBod Act 1140 with full prosecution expected by July 3.

🛡️ This comes just days before the official launch of Ghana’s police-powered GoldBod Taskforce on July 8, as part of a nationwide effort to eliminate gold smuggling, protect local miners, and recover over $2 billion in lost revenue annually.
