HURRICANE ISAIAS: The first hurricane of the year has formed in the Gulf as of late last night. Hurricane warnings are in effect along the coasts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. Isaias is expected to reach category 2 strength this afternoon, and will make landfall Friday night/early Saturday morning.

FIRST ALERT: As of 4 AM central time on Wednesday morning, Tropical Storm Isaias has formed in the Gulf. It is still expected to make landfall as the season's first hurricane this weekend, somewhere between Mississippi and the Florida panhandle.

The first Atlantic Hurricane of 2026 will form later this week!

This afternoon, the NHC upgraded Invest 92-L to Tropical Depression Nine. T.D. Nine will likely become Tropical Storm Isaias tonight and drift eastward and then north. Isaias is expected to strengthen into a Hurricane on Thursday and make landfall on the Gulf Coast on Friday or Saturday. The latest NHC forecast has Isaias making landfall as a Category 2 Hurricane somewhere between New Orleans and Pensacola.
