Blind Adventurer Lonnie Bedwell to Speak at Vigo County Public Library

Terre Haute, IN — The Vigo County Public Library will host an inspiring presentation by blind adventurer Lonnie Bedwell on Wednesday, December 3, from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. at 680 Poplar Street in Terre Haute. This free community event invites the public to hear Bedwell’s remarkable story of perseverance, courage, and exploration.

Bedwell, a U.S. Navy veteran, father of two, and lifelong adventurer, lost his sight in 1997. Since then, he has climbed some of the world’s highest mountains, kayaked challenging whitewater rapids, and become an advocate for people with vision loss. His commitment to pushing boundaries and helping others find their own strength has made him a nationally recognized motivational speaker.

The program is open to the public and will include participation from a group of individuals with low vision. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with Bedwell and learn how his experiences have shaped his belief in resilience and community.

🎃👻 Hey Wabash Valley night owls and Halloween lovers — it’s time to get spooky on the airwaves with us! 🎶

Join me — DJ Phantom on 96.9 The Monkey — TONIGHT from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. for a ghoul-tastic lineup of Halloween tunes, weird riffs, creepy vibes you crave as the moon rises and the shadows grow. 🌙

And when the clock strikes 11:00 p.m., we’ll crank up the chills and head into our special Halloween edition of Indiana Nocturne with legendary spook-casters Russ Dodge & John Rabold — expect haunting soundscapes, off-kilter tracks and deep-night magic. Don’t miss it.

But of course, Halloween isn’t just about what you hear — it’s about what you DO here in Terre Haute. 🏘️

Residential trick-or-treating within city limits is scheduled for tonight (Oct. 31) from 6:00-9:00 p.m. — so grab your costumes, pick up those pillow-cases (or candy buckets) and hit the sidewalks.

Prefer something in the parking-lot/trunk style? There’s a fun drive-through “Trunk or Treat” at the First Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Terre Haute (3954 Madeline Dr) tonight at 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. — bring your best costume and roll through for candy without ever leaving the car.

So here’s the plan:
🎧 Tune in at 6 p.m. for the Halloween party on 96.9 The Monkey.
🎃 Dress up (if you can) and make your way around town or cruise to the Trunk or Treat.
🕚 At 11 p.m., dive deep into our Halloween night-sound journey with Indiana Nocturne.
