𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐚𝐬, 𝐏𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐚, 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠
𝒏𝒊 𝑨𝒊𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝑹𝒐𝒄𝒉𝒂

Pagkabungad ko pa lamang sa labas ng unibersidad, "𝘛𝘰𝘺, 𝘣𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘯?" ang agad na sumalubong sa akin. Parang may sariling tiyempo ang tanong, laging naririnig sa parehong oras, sa parehong tono, mula sa parehong traysikel driver na nakasandal sa kanyang manibela. Pawisan siya, may bimpo sa batok, at halatang maghapon nang nakabilad sa araw. Hindi ko na kailangang sumagot—isang tango lang, at alam na niyang sasakay ako.

Sumampa ako sa traysikel, umupo sa loob, at agad kong naramdaman ang alinsangan sa sikip ng espasyo. Mabagal ang takbo dahil sa dami ng estudyanteng lumalabas, sabay-sabay na nag-uunahang makauwi. Sa bawat pagliko, ramdam ko ang bahagyang pag-angat ng gulong sa kalsada, parang isang saglit lang ay maaari akong tumilapon. Pero sanay na ako rito.

Sa pagdating sa bayan, bumaba ako at nagbayad. "𝘉𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦." Inabot ko ang lukot na pera, sabay lakad papunta sa terminal ng dyip. Doon, mas maingay, mas magulo—parang isang maliit na lungsod na hindi nauubusan ng kwento. May barker na paulit-ulit na sumisigaw, "𝘐𝘴𝘢 𝘯𝘢 𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨! 𝘐𝘴𝘢 𝘯𝘢 𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨! 𝘋𝘪𝘳𝘦-𝘥𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘴𝘰 𝘯𝘢 ‘𝘵𝘰!" Kahit kitang-kita ko naman na halos magkalasog-lasog na ang mga nakasakay sa loob.

Pinilit kong ipasok ang sarili ko sa pagitan ng dalawang pasahero. Sa kaliwa ko, isang matandang may bitbit na plastik ng gulay, maingat na niyayakap ito na para bang kayamanang kailangang protektahan. Sa kanan ko, isang estudyanteng nakayuko, mahigpit na nakapulupot ang kamay sa bag na tinakpan ng kanyang braso. Natutulog ba siya? O sinasanay lang ang sarili niyang huwag masanay sa panghihimasok ng mundo?

Habang bumabaybay ang dyip sa makipot na kalsada, nagsimula nang maghalo ang ingay—ang pag-uusap ng dalawang ale tungkol sa mahal na bilihin, ang nagbubungangang tsuper sa gitna ng trapiko, ang walang-humpay na busina ng mga sasakyang nag-uunahan. Sa ibabaw ng lahat ng ito, naririnig ko ang malakas na hampas ng hanging dala ng mabilis na andar.

Napatingin ako sa labas. Ang tanawin ay isang mabilis na lumilipas na koleksyon ng kwento—isang matandang naglalako ng mani, isang batang nakaupo sa bangketa habang pinanonood ang ina niyang nagtitinda, isang construction worker na nakapangalumbaba sa gilid ng kalsada, tila iniisip kung paano pagkakasyahin ang kita ngayong araw. Bawat isa, may kanya-kanyang patutunguhan, may bitbit na pagod, pangarap, at dahilan kung bakit patuloy na kumikilos.

At sa gitna ng lahat ng ito, naramdaman kong may kung anong bumibigat sa loob ko—hindi dahil sa sikip ng dyip o sa usok ng tambutso, kundi dahil sa isang di maipaliwanag na pakiramdam.

Bakit may aliwalas sa gitna ng sikip? Bakit sa ingay, may tila musika? Ang tunog ng makina, ang kalansing ng barya sa kamay ng kundoktor, ang paulit-ulit na sigaw ng barker—lahat ito ay parang pintig ng isang lansangan na hindi kailanman humihinto.

Humigpit ang kapit ko sa bakal na hawakan. Lumalayo ba ako, o papalapit? Hindi ko sigurado. 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘰 𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘶𝘳𝘰, 𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘺𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘨𝘢. 𝐄𝐃𝐈𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐀𝐋 |

𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗖, 𝘄𝗵𝗼??!

It’s the time of the year again when we choose someone to be our voice — the voice of the vulnerable, the laborers who seek a salary increase, the farmers who weep for justice, and the list goes on.

But before all the election voting, what goes on behind closed doors? The laws, regulations, creating candidate qualifications, decision-making, registering, filing, and recommending—who does those? As Ms. Heart Aquino (Sexy Babe contestant) says, “Sorry po, Hindi ako knowledgeable about sa COMELEC.” Do YOU know?

As a 20-year-old individual, do you know what COMELEC is? 18 years old and above are already given the right to vote, and by this time, choosing who to vote for and their candidates for the election are already popping up probably on your FYP page or other social media platforms. So is it a casual act of negligence? Maybe?

It is not just a person’s “cup of tea” where we gossip and talk about political issues, cancel others to “hop on the trend", but fail to educate ourselves on topics that are related to it. And I think that’s probably why COMELEC was never the topic that students or people considered as a conversation.

It is our right to vote and to know who to vote for. It’s not just a simple homework assignment that we can research and do at the moment of submission, NO. It can take days of research and a marathon to finish watching debates, issues, and rumors just to find the right candidates.

Government positions are not circus applications where unqualified candidates carelessly file their candidacy with the reason “I want to help people” or “Someone told me to run for the position, so I did,” knowing they don’t have that much credibility to govern the people.

Government positions are crucial to the community. If they don’t function well, then the people will suffer. And that is where the functions of COMELEC appear. They are the agency tasked with creating laws and regulations—including the qualifications for running for a government position—that are concerned with the conduct of elections.

Now that Ms. Aquino is already knowledgeable about what COMELEC is, it’s time that we all know what its function is in the coming election. It’s never too late to be knowledgeable. In a world where technology and social media exist, these kinds of significant topics must not be ignored.

The vote that we cast is not just for us. It is for the people. It is for the silent cries of the poor. It is for the generation that our grandparents will fail to see. It is for the BETTER TOMORROW.

It’s 2025! We must wake up and choose the right candidate for this year’s election.

Being a woman is not just about being a part of a society, it is concerning how to empower fellow women, to make a change in a society. To empower one is to hold power and voice within yourself. How can individual women's empowerment contribute to the greater good? What does it take to be a woman?

Every March of the year, Women's Month is celebrated to honor and empower the strength and abilities of women. It is held to recognize them as they have always played a crucial role in transforming society and achieving greatness despite the circumstances they faced. Their perseverance and confidence to contribute to the greater good across different fields - whether it is business, arts, science, or even sports and other fields has been greatly an advantage in the society where we live.

However, before the generation of today, despite their contributions, women continue to face significant challenges. From households, workplaces, social media, and leadership. Gender inequality persists, with women earning less than men for the same work, expected to stay at home and take care of the family, limited access to education, healthcare, and opportunities, and being criticized in leadership positions. But with further development, women nowadays can access education, healthcare, and even more opportunities for them to be able to develop new ideas.

From a loving mother, sister, and aunt of the family to a businesswoman who greatly impacts the economy and sustains the needs of people. From being ignorant to knowledgeable and successful, being from below to top, leading thousands of people around the world. Innovating medical equipment and other fields that offer more convenience and accessibility. From creative ideas to the courage that led us all to develop such an advanced society.

In this generation, we grew up in a society wherein women are empowered and intimidating. We can't just degrade a woman who holds the power to hold a life within herself, an individual who has given everything for you to be able to see the beauty and reality of the world. A woman who can handle situations calmly and realistically, a woman who is born to be resilient and dedicated to promoting sustainability.

A power of women to encourage and inspire fellow women to be more. You might hear someone say that "women need to find their voices" but it wasn't true in a particular reason that they have already their voices but what they needed is to be empowered. A voice for many, to encourage people to listen, because behind every empowered and strong independent woman is a tribe of other strong independent women who have her back.

Furthermore, Women's Month is a month for women to be recognized and honored. It takes a lot to be a woman, to lead, to speak out, and to be strong. Let's not just use this month to empower them instead use every day to appreciate women who created a way for future generations. As we move forward let's continue to empower each woman to create a more meaningful mark in the history of our society. If we empower women, we empower humanity.

Not all goodbyes are spoken, and not all endings come with closure. Sometimes, they unfold like a whisper in the wind—soft yet lingering, fading yet unforgettable.

Uno, Shade, Tala, Monaguillo, and Elyria have each left their mark, their footprints pressed upon the shifting sands of time. Some will be washed away by the tide, others will remain—ghosts of steps once taken, echoes of a journey now at its twilight.

But as the sun sinks and the road disappears into shadow, we ask: is this truly the end, or just another beginning unseen? Do lost paths ever cross again, or do they dissolve into the void, leaving only memories to remind us they once existed?

This is the final chapter of The Trojan’s Time Feb-Ibig Literary Series—a farewell not just to stories, but to the hearts that shaped them. Some journeys end, some souls part ways, but the echoes of love and longing remain—carved into the spaces we leave behind.

𝟯𝗧 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 “𝗔𝗹𝗽𝗮𝘀”

College of Business and Accountancy’s film entry entitled “Alpas” for the 1st MarSU Film Festival 2025 has taken home two prestigious awards at its awarding night yesterday evening, March 5 at MarSU Gymnasium.

The film is under 3T Production, directed by Nhel Anyhony Lolong, starring John Carlo Montemar with his supporting actress, Ma. Lorena Marciano. It dives into the depths of despair, depicting a world where individuals are relentlessly battered by misfortune, their lives a harrowing journey full of challenges.

Alpas was recognized for its noteworthy storyline taking home the 𝙎𝙋𝙀𝘾𝙄𝘼𝙇 𝙅𝙐𝙍𝙔 𝘼𝙒𝘼𝙍𝘿. And John Carlo Montemar won 𝘽𝙀𝙎𝙏 𝘼𝘾𝙏𝙊𝙍 portraying as “Marco” in the film.

The Film Festival consisted of 7 film entries. Except from the entry of the College of Business and Accountancy, other film entries were produced by Communications Society students.

The filmmakers and cast of “Alpas” are extremely honored by these recognition that mirrored their collective dedication and passion in bringing this film to life. The team celebrates this momentous achievement, marking a significant milestone in their creative journey.

In business and academics, success is not about you waiting for the opportunity but rather creating it. The most successful people in the world are those who think differently from what society dictates. Ultimately, to create future means to be able to lead with purpose and vision.

Creating the future in the field of marketing means embracing innovation. Marketers who thrive to go beyond what's ordinary and t working towards success amidst the losses. Furthermore, exams, quizzes, activities and performance are the learning experience for a student. Just like in marketing, after the exams, whether the results are great or disappointing they should analyze the exam results to identify areas for growth and improvement.

Thus, whether in marketing or academics, success is in our own hands. You shouldn't wait for success, you should create it. By believing in yourself, and learning from your experiences, you are shaping the path to your own achievements.
