The recruiting machine is cranking back up.

June is here, and that means official visit season in Tuscaloosa. Kalen DeBoer just wrapped his first OV weekend of the summer and came away with a commitment: Gainesville (Ga.) running back Nigel Newkirk picked Alabama over Ohio State, LSU, and Michigan, shutting down his recruitment on the spot instead of waiting until his July 1 date.

Newkirk racked up 1,496 rushing yards and 19 TDs last season averaging 8.1 yards per carry in 14 games. He's the real deal.

And the overall program trajectory is strong. The 2026 signed class finished in the top 3 nationally per 247Sports, with four 5-star commits locked in. DeBoer's second full cycle looked a lot like his first.

The second OV weekend just wrapped up and it was another loaded room in Tuscaloosa. The headliner was 5-star WR Monshun Sales, a 6-foot-5 target who grew up an Alabama fan and holds offers from Ohio State, Indiana, and Miami. Also on campus: top 2027 WR Osani Gayles, 5-star CB Hayden Stepp, TE Michael Nnabuife (a Syracuse commit Alabama is working to flip), and WR Namajay Thompson. DeBoer's staff is pulling in talent from every direction, and commitment news could be coming soon.

Just 94 days until Alabama kicks off against East Carolina at Bryant-Denny on September 5th.

DeBoer Vows Physicality, Praises Roster Growth Heading into Year 3

Kalen DeBoer is heading into his third season at Alabama with a pointed message for critics and a clear vision for where the Crimson Tide are going. Speaking this week on former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy's Always College Football podcast, DeBoer addressed the program's run game struggles, assessed a revamped offensive line, and praised a pair of skill players who he believes are ready for breakout campaigns.

Getting Physical: A Direct Response to Critics

Alabama's ground game was historically bad in 2025. The Crimson Tide ranked 125th out of 136 FBS programs in rushing, averaging just 104 yards per game — a steep drop from the 174 yards per game they averaged behind dual-threat quarterback Jalen Milroe in 2024.

DeBoer is not apologizing for it, but he is clearly motivated to fix it.

"You work around your personnel," DeBoer told McElroy. "I'm not going to take away from what we were at Washington and the ability to throw the football or what we were last year with Ty Simpson slinging it around to a talented group of receivers. That's dynamic, and you want to be as dynamic as you possibly can be. But you do need to have a physical way about you if you want to win the championships."

DeBoer made clear the program is not simply paying lip service to a more balanced attack. With a more physically capable recruiting class and a healthy appetite for the transfer portal, he sounded like a coach who has identified the problem and put a plan in motion to correct it.

"I can't wait to the point where we get back to being what we truly are," DeBoer concluded. "And I know our guys are working extremely hard to make sure that any flaws that we've had or areas we've come up short are addressed."

Optimism Up Front: DeBoer Bullish on Offensive Line

If Alabama is going to establish the physical identity DeBoer is demanding, it will start with an offensive line that looks considerably different from the unit that struggled to create push a season ago. DeBoer has brought in new faces through the portal and is counting on a handful of young players to step into significant roles.

Rather than tempering expectations, DeBoer leaned into the optimism.

"I thought they made a lot of progress," DeBoer said. "Some new faces, and some young faces."

He specifically singled out projected starting left tackle Jackson Lloyd as someone who has drawn notable praise from the coaching staff. The implication was clear: if this group develops the way DeBoer believes it can, the offensive line could shift from a question mark to one of the team's defining strengths by the time the season kicks off.

Coleman-Williams Ready to Deliver

Wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams is entering his junior season carrying enormous expectations, and DeBoer made it plain that the former five-star recruit has done nothing to dampen them.

"You're never going to question the work ethic, the character," DeBoer said of Coleman-Williams, crediting the receiver's offseason approach and leadership as key factors heading into what many expect to be a career year.

For an Alabama team with national championship ambitions, having a receiver of Coleman-Williams' caliber fully bought in could prove to be one of the more important ingredients in the program's 2026 recipe.

A Roster Coming Together

Beyond the X's and O's, DeBoer addressed something less tangible but arguably just as important: team chemistry in a modern college football environment where the transfer portal creates constant roster turnover.

"The guys that were here and open-armed accepting the guys that came in when they saw how hard they were going to work... I think there's kind of just a silent kind of way we're methodically going about our work," DeBoer said.

It is a dynamic that DeBoer has spoken about throughout his tenure: building a program culture that does not fracture when new players arrive. His comments suggest that culture is taking root.

Contract Extension Adds Stability for Recruiting

DeBoer also addressed his contract extension and the role it plays in the program's recruiting conversations. Speaking to reporters at the Regions Tradition Pro-Am at Greystone Golf and Country Club in Birmingham two weeks ago, he was candid about what the deal means for the program's pitch to prospects.

"I love being here at Alabama and looking forward to many more great years," DeBoer said. "That continuity is important, not just to our success, but also the development of these guys that are here to try to figure out which program they're gonna go to."

It is a straightforward sell: recruits can plan their development with a stable coaching staff in place for the foreseeable future, something that was far less certain in the months after Alabama's Rose Bowl exit.

Coach Stallings will be 91 tomorrow!!

His voice sounded strong today at 3:30 pm CT when we chatted.
Contrary to shameful fake posts that swirled around Facebook and social media on Sunday, Coach Gene Stallings was alive and well, stopping his tractor to chat with me from his Texas ranch.

“You know you turn 91 tomorrow, right coach?” I asked him.
“Lord have mercy,” chuckled the coach. I didn’t know I would live this long, but God has been good.”
The Stallings family will visit the coach and Ruth Ann tomorrow (Monday) to celebrate Coach Stallings’ birthday.

I’ll be writing a tribute to Coach Stallings tomorrow, so be sure to visit my page on Monday.

Until then I felt the need to put y’all at ease after so many fake posts are popping up.

Fake posts make us all angry.

What can we do?
We can report these pages.
If you follow these pages unfollow them and block them- it’s likely the folks who run these pages have nothing to do with Bama football.
We can share this post to let the world know the truth.

I would imagine thousands of Coach Stallings fans would appreciate you if you spread the Good News.

I imagine Coach Stallings would appreciate you, too. 😊

*Thanks to Martha Kate Stallings Gunn for the precious picture.

Alabama Football Hires Adrian Klemm as New Offensive Line Coach

Alabama football has landed a veteran coach with extensive NFL and college experience to lead its offensive line in 2026. Adrian Klemm, who most recently served as a senior defensive analyst at USC, will take over the position following Chris Kapilovic's departure after two seasons in Tuscaloosa. The hire brings a coach with proven success at multiple levels, including a remarkable 2022 season at Oregon where his offensive line allowed just five sacks in 13 games, the fewest in all of college football that year.

From Super Bowl Champion to Coach

Klemm's football credentials run deep. A second-round draft pick by the New England Patriots in 2000, the Los Angeles native won three Super Bowl championships during his five-year NFL career. After his playing days ended, he transitioned into coaching, beginning at SMU in 2009 where he spent four seasons developing his coaching philosophy. "He taught me how to punch. The way I strike, it comes from the way Adrian taught me," former SMU player and longtime NFL veteran Kelvin Beachum told ESPN. "He's like my older brother, so I'm a little biased. He loves the game, but at the same time preaches violence."

A Track Record of Success

Klemm's resume includes successful stops at several major programs. During his five-year tenure at UCLA (2012-2016), the Bruins broke multiple offensive records including single-season marks for passing yards (3,860), rushing yards (2,860), scoring (482 points), and total offense (6,531 yards). He earned Pac-12 Recruiter of the Year honors in 2012.

His impact in Eugene was immediate. In his lone season coordinating Oregon's offensive line in 2022, the Ducks ranked sixth nationally in total offense, 10th in scoring offense, and 12th in rushing offense. The unit's protection was exceptional, surrendering just five sacks while paving the way for one of the nation's most explosive attacks.

NFL Experience

Klemm has also coached in the NFL, spending three years with the Pittsburgh Steelers (2019-2021) before returning to his former team, the New England Patriots, as offensive line coach in 2023 under Bill Belichick. During his time in Pittsburgh, the 2020 Steelers offensive line allowed just 14 sacks, seven fewer than any other NFL team that season. His return to New England in 2023 proved challenging as the Patriots struggled through Belichick's final season. The line allowed 36 sacks while the running game averaged 3.9 yards per carry. However, multiple factors contributed to that difficult season beyond just offensive line play.

Alabama Connection Through Courtney Morgan

An interesting connection exists between Klemm and Alabama general manager Courtney Morgan. Both are Los Angeles natives, and in 2013, Klemm advised then-UCLA coach Jim Mora to hire Morgan as the Bruins' director of player development. Morgan worked at UCLA from 2013-2014 while Klemm was coaching the offensive line, establishing a relationship that now reunites them in Tuscaloosa.

The Challenge Ahead

Klemm inherits an offensive line in transition. Alabama finished the 2025 season averaging just 3.4 yards per rush, the program's worst mark since 1998. Four of the five starters either entered the NFL draft or exhausted their eligibility, while six other linemen entered the transfer portal. However, the Tide have aggressively rebuilt through recruiting and the portal. The 2026 roster will feature returners like Michael Carroll, a consensus five-star recruit who showed promise as a true freshman, along with significant portal additions from Michigan, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and other programs. "I'm ready to step into that leadership role," Carroll said before the Rose Bowl. "I want to be a vocal leader heading into next year."

Building Relationships

Former players consistently praise Klemm's ability to develop lasting relationships. Xavier Su'a-Filo, an All-American at UCLA, noted that even a decade after playing for Klemm, he remains a resource and mentor. "He's always been a resource for me," Su'a-Filo told ESPN. "Even after playing for him, it's been almost 10 years now." Beachum emphasized Klemm's player-first approach: "He's a relationship evangelist, is what I call him. A lot of who I am, and what I stand for, is from the foundation he laid for me at SMU."

What It Means for Alabama

The hire signals Kalen DeBoer's commitment to addressing one of the team's most glaring weaknesses from 2025. With Klemm's proven ability to coach both technique and relationships, plus his success developing NFL-caliber linemen, Alabama fans have reason for optimism heading into spring practice. The question now becomes whether Klemm can replicate his Oregon success in Tuscaloosa. With a largely new group of linemen, strong portal additions, and a coaching staff that must reestablish Alabama's dominance in the trenches, the pieces are in place for a turnaround. Spring practice will provide the first glimpse of how Klemm's system translates to the Crimson Tide, but his track record suggests Alabama made a strategic hire to fix one of its most pressing issues heading into 2026.

BREAKING: Alabama Zeroing In On New OL Coach

Kalen DeBoer has reportedly identified his top target to replace Chris Kapilovic as Alabama's offensive line coach. USC defensive analyst Adrian Klemm has emerged as the prime candidate.

Klemm brings serious credentials:

* Former Oregon and New England Patriots OL coach
* Oregon ranked No. 1 nationally in sacks allowed in 2022 (just 5 in 13 games)
* Pittsburgh led NFL in fewest sacks in 2020 under his guidance (only 14 allowed)
*Served as run game coordinator at UCLA and Oregon
*NFL player with five seasons for the Patriots

This hire could be exactly what Alabama needs to fix the run game and protect the QB in 2026. DeBoer moving fast to upgrade the offensive line.

Football games are won and lost at the line of scrimmage. Same as it ever was. We aren't even competitive there.

02/01/2026

This might be just what Alabama needed. A sense of entitlement has been running through the program for a while. And it didn't just start with DeBoer. All the LANK crap during Saban's last two years was the same. This team couldn't stop talking about disrespect. No player on this team had anything to do with the Alabama championships of the past. Shut up and do your job! You are what your record says you are!!!
