✨ Romance Writers of Australia Conference 2025 – Hobart ✨

We realised we never shared any photos from the fabulous Writer Wonderland Conference back in August! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Jo (on about her eleventy-fifth RWA conference 😂) and Fiona (a first-timer!) had the best time — and yes, even though we both write crime thrillers, were welcomed with so much warmth by the romance community 💕

We went with Molly from .candlelight, who had several of her Book Box authors represented, and spent the weekend surrounded by amazing writers, inspiring panels, and seriously delicious food 💛

Highlights? The cocktail dress-up evening, the Gala Dinner and Awards, meeting so many wonderful writers and authors, with plenty of laughs along the way 🥰

We came home with full hearts, sore feet, and notebooks brimming with ideas. Thank you for such an incredible event — we’ll be back! 🥂

🎉 The Word Count turns TWO! 🎉

Two years ago, three Australian writers with a shared love of writing, books and bubbles, decided to record our writing journeys and see if anyone wanted to listen. And what a two years it has been! 💛💛💛

Since our first birthday… ✨ Jo has written Book 3 — A Disappearing Act — out Oct 28! 📖  ✨ Jacq has signed with an agent AND a publisher (go Jacq!!) 🎉 ✨ Fiona is almost at THE END of her manuscript 😍 ✨ We’ve secured a publisher - thanks Postie! 🙏 ✨ Phil has stayed with us, creating the most amazing intros of any podcast (yes, we’re biased, but we’re also right 😜) ✨ We’ve organised our very first Writing Retreat for 2026! ✨ Written countless words, read a library’s worth of books, and most importantly — supported, laughed, and loved each other throughout.

We’re now almost at 50 episodes, with a strong and supportive following that continues to grow. To us, you — our very dear listeners — are the fourth friend in every one of our conversations, and we love having you along for the ride 💛

Thank you for cheering us on, sharing your own journeys, and being part of this community. We’re so proud of what we’ve built together, and so excited for what’s still to come 🥰
