Many enthusiasts regard the FL5 as a return to top form for the Type R lineage. Therefore, writing this short driving impression required careful introspection about the sacred hot Civic, lest I step on any toes (although I probably will). Note: for full version check out my channel.

⁃ I have mixed feelings about the turbo engine, but it comes down to this - it’s probably a necessary progression for the Type R after attaining the limits of the NA engine.
⁃ I was still surprised at the level of wheelspin the car encountered.
⁃ As far as ride is concerned, the FL5 has the FD2R beat. In Comfort mode, it’s a forgiving car to drive and offers a good blend of body control and pliancy.
⁃ The beautiful shift action Honda is so famous for remains in the FL5, as well as the precise steering and braking. It’s easier than ever to drive, with a great view outwards, a light clutch and auto rev-matching on downshifts.
⁃ If I had to choose between the FD2R and FL5? If it’s a daily, the FL5 would probably be it. But if I wanted something truly special, the FD2R is hard to beat.

Yep, that’s Singapore not too long ago. On assignment with Wraith as an all-new addition to the line-up in 2014. As of 2023, it’s no longer produced by Rolls-Royce. Should RR bring back a V12 coupe?

While Europe plays catch-up in the electrification game, PHEVs are a good interim product offer - as Lamborghini understands when they brought the Urus SE to market.

In Singapore it’s priced exactly the same as the outgoing full-ICE Urus S, attracts the same road tax yet gives 132 bhp and 100 Nm more power and torque respectively. Take it from me, it feels significantly quicker than the S. It also provides a useful EV range of around 60 km. Although only 11 kW AC charging is offered, the battery recharges pretty quickly especially when the car is driven spiritedly.

Yes, there’s a weight penalty of some 300 kg but other than on a racetrack, I don’t think it will be felt very much most of the time. At least I didn’t while driving it in Singapore. It’s very well-managed with the additional torque from the PHEV system, as well as the carbon ceramic brakes fitted as standard on all Urus models.

Lamborghini’s entire range is now fully electrified and judging from the Revuelto and Urus SE I’ve driven so far, it’s a promising future and more importantly, a clever interpretation of electrification for the super-luxury segment.
