☄️Spent 10k - Sold ⤵️
In my previous business, I was wearing almost all the hats so I thought it made sense to hire an outside ad agency that had a lot of experience with e-commerce product digital ads.
It was a small agency and the sales guy sounded like he really knew what he was doing… And to be fair for a larger company, his methodology could have worked.
We ran test ads for several weeks and blew through about 10 K in cash.
💰 We only had 4 sales of a $99 product.
✔️ The creatives? Looked great.
✔️ The copy? Looked great, but didn’t convince them to buy.
❌ The problem? I didn’t have enough runway cash to keep testing. see larger companies, expect to burn through a good bit of Cash during the testing phase. But most small companies and especially service based companies simply don’t have that kind of runway.
Even though I had conversion funnels optimized, nurturing email sequences, and even retargeting pixels installed ( all necessary for running ads), I MISSED SOMETHING HUGE!
💡My business was not ready to run ads.
I did not have a long-term strategy for the testing phase and I assumed that with his and my experience we would nail it right out of the gate.
🚰 Before attempting ads now with clients, we focus on the quality of our content marketing, as well as clear messaging and a direct call to action along every clickable action.
