Ofumelu Makes Case For Anambra and Other Nigerian States To Be Included In The Recent Recruitment Of Four (400) Nigerians By The Transmission Company Of Nigeria.
The member Representing Oyi and Ayamelum Federal Constituency, Hon. Barr. Vincent Ekene Ofumelu, yesterday on the floor of the green chambers, fumed over the deliberate exclusion of Anambra State from the recent recruitment exercise by the Transmission company of Nigeria (TCN).
The lawmaker protested against the TCN over what he termed undue marginalization of Anambra people and other Nigerian States as against the Federal character principles enshrined in the 1999 constitution (as amended) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Consequently, Hon. Ofumelu moved motion for amendment to include Anambra State and other Nigerian States on the on-going recruitment exercise inline with the Federal character principles. The amendment was in support of the original motion earlier presented to the House of Representatives by Hon. Perey Oseke from Bayelsa State calling on the TCN to include more Bayelsa indegines in the recruitment exercise.
Hon. Ofumelu noted with anger that it amounts to marginalization for the Transmission Company of Nigeria to screen over four (400) applicants for recruitment and none is from Anambra State and various other Nigerian states.
The motion for amendment by Hon. Vincent Ekene Ofumelu was endorsed by majority of the House of Representatives members as the Deputy Speaker of the House directed that the TCN committee should explain to the House why the Agency excluded other Nigerians from the recruitment against the Federal character principles.
Hon. Barr. Vincent Ekene Ofumelu, MHR has continued to speak on critical issues of National importance.
