Geraldton – Second Lap Reflections

Rolling into Geraldton on our second lap around Australia felt a bit like meeting an old friend — familiar sights, but this time with the kids that little bit taller (the foreshore photos really show just how much they’ve grown since last time!).

We took time to visit the HMAS Sydney II Memorial again, and it’s impossible not to feel humbled standing there, thinking of the courage and sacrifice of the 645 crew who never came home. It’s a place that leaves you quiet and reflective.

The WA Museum in Geraldton is well worth a stop, with engaging displays that bring both local history and the Sydney story to life. A great way to spend a few hours learning and connecting with the past before continuing our journey north 🤙🏼

After an 11 week work stint freezing it through winter in Perth it’s so warming to our hearts & souls to be kissed by the sun & wrapped up in the freedom that life on the road brings, we absolutely love it when the wheels are turning 🤙🏼

Gnomesville.
Gnomesville is a quirky and beloved tourist attraction located in the Ferguson Valley, near Dardanup in Western Australia (about 30 minutes from Bunbury). It’s exactly what it sounds like — a sprawling, whimsical village made up of thousands of garden gnomes, contributed by visitors from all over the world.

Part of the coffin bay experience is the famous oysters, were not big oyster eaters, but we found these to be a delectable delight, even the kids.

Wallaman Falls

The highest permanent single drop waterfall in Australia !
Wow this thing is a sight to take in and you can’t miss it if you’re a waterfall fan.

Located in some world heritage listed rainforest about an hours drive inland from Ingham North Queensland.
When you arrive the top viewpoint is pretty close to the car park, it offers a fantastic place to take in the fall and watch it horsetail over the granite cliff.

If you’re up for an adventure the walk to the bottom affords a solid challenge,
after about an hour of trekking, your reward is undeniable. Looking up those 268 metres of cascading water will fill you with a sense of accomplishment and awe. You may even catch glimpses of a rainbow as the Falls’ mist sprays up and clouds the air.
The swim at the bottom is well deserved after scrambling over the boulders to reach the pool.
But a word of warning ⚠️ the 240 meter of elevation change coming back up is pretty tough going (especially in the hotter months)
We highly recommend you come see the falls if your in the area 🤙🏼
