Like many, I was beyond devastated to hear of Shane and Owen’s untimely passings last weekend at Oulton Park. Whilst I didn’t have the opportunity to get to know Shane, I only ever heard praise associated against his name and character.

I commentated on Owen for a number of years, including his Junior Superstock title win in 2023 - he was a tenacious racer on the bike, and a friendly, warm personality off of it. I will really miss seeing his signature smile, as well as his lovely family, in the paddock.

Popped in to see the team at 107.8 Academy FM Thanet today, the place where I began my career 15 years ago.

I owe an enormous debt of gratitude to the team there and the opportunities they gave me, without which I genuinely wouldn’t be doing what I do today.

Always remember the journey 😊

Huge thank you to Shannen Lythgoe - Photographer who has absolutely knocked it out of the park (as always) with some new promo shots.

Anyway, probably a good time to say I'll be a part of the commentary line up for this weekend's FIM Endurance World Championship EWC 24 Heures Motos event this weekend on TNT Sports. Hope you can join us!

A bit about me!

Hello!

I’m Tom. I’m a Sports Commentator and Journalist and I’ve been working in media since the age of 13. I started out volunteering for a local radio station whilst at secondary school, presenting various shows over my seven year tenure there, including the Breakfast Show for nine months at the age of 16.

Whilst studying for my GCSEs, I decided that I really wanted to have a career that I’d enjoy and having been fascinated with motor racing for as long as I can remember (even attempting to race once upon a time), coupled with using my voice on an almost daily basis, working as a sports commentator was something that really did appeal to me. At the time, I was also writing for a few Formula 1 news websites too.

I began by commentating over some old racing videos and sticking them up on YouTube and before long it began gaining some traction. By pure chance, a friend I worked with in my part-time job was a sim racer and said that the series he raced in produced highlights which were likely to be broadcast on television.
