In 1993, we kicked off our first Beer Issue and from then on August became the traditional month for our ensuing Beer Issues. Here's one of our first articles highlighting local breweries. We've made editor's updates since then and we've recovered some fascinating facts. Did you know the old Latrobe Brewery (formerly the home of Rolling Rock) began brewing Real American Beer for WWE star Hulk Hogan in 2024? And then he died a year later?! Read on...

Twenty-nine years ago we interviewed Delaware native Vinnie Moore about his upcoming album (Out of Nowhere) and tour supporting the band Rush. The first stop on the tour was in his backyard at the Spectrum in Philly, and he described what that was like, driving from his home directly to the load-in area of the gig.

BY GREGG KIRK Big Shout Magazine It was around 1985 that Newark native Vinnie Moore captured the imagination of just about every bedroom-guitar-playing kid cutting his teeth on his first Van Halen record. This was the year that Moore sent a cassette tape and a picture of himself to Guitar […]

This year, the South by Southwest Music and Media Conference (SXSW) announced that they would be downsizing the live music portion of the conference next year due to the reconstruction of their home base (Austin Convention Center), and the fact that more participants are joining online instead of going to see live bands in person. In fact, they've eliminated the music-only weekend that was the foundation of the original conference. If video killed the radio star, streaming services have killed everything else related to music. Here's a detailed account of what the original conference was like when it was only in its third year...
