Cork's Callum Walsh is preparing for the biggest fight of his career this weekend. The Riverstown BC fighter faces Fernando Vargas Jr as the co-main event of the Canelo Alvarez v Terrance Crawford card in Las Vegas on Saturday night, which will be broadcast on Netflix. He's been talking to Ruairi about the time he was back at Riverstown BC - and brought his Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach with him.

It was a busy day for a number of Cork stars on transfer deadline day. Adam Idah has completed his move to Swansea City. The former College Corinthians striker made the switch from Celtic for an undisclosed fee - the 24 year old has signed a five year deal with the Welsh side. Idah made 76 appearances for Celtic, scoring 29 goals.

Chiedoze Ogbene has joined Sheffield United on loan. The 28 year old former Cork City winger joins on a season long deal from Ipswich Town, after missing most of last season with an Achilles injury.

Alan Browne has moved to Middlesborough on a season long loan deal from Sunderland. The 30 year old former Ringmahon Rangers midfielder played 23 times for Sunderland, as they were promoted back to the Premier League.

Former Cork City star Fanco Umeh has moved from Crystal Palace to Portsmouth for a fee believed to be £500,000.

Liverpool and Newcastle are understood to have reached an agreement over the transfer of Alexander Isak.

Reports suggest the clubs have agreed a fee of £130m pounds for the Swedish forward to move to Anfield.

Isak is set to undergo a medical later today before signing a six-year contract.

Today is transfer deadline day, with the window set to close at 7pm.

Ben O'Connor is set to be appointed as Cork's new hurling boss.

The Echo report that the Newtownshandrum man has been selected to replace Pat Ryan, who announced last week that he would be stepping down.

O'Connor, who won three All Irelands with the Rebels and led the under 20 side to Sll Ireland success in 2023, has been chosen by the county board's selection sub committee, and is set to be ratified at next week's county board meeting.

Manchester United crashed out of the EFL Cup last night in dramatic fashion.

The Red Devils lost to league 2 side Grimsby Town on a penalty shootout - it finished 12-11 on spot kicks, with Cork's Jaze Kabia scoring twice in the shootout.

Grimsby were 2-0 up, but United came back in the second half to force penalties.

Seamus Coleman played for 90 minutes in Everton's 2-nil win against League One Mansfield.

Fulham also enjoyed a 2-nil victory in their tie with Bristol City, while Brighton hammered Oxford 6-nil.
