🔧 Equipment Focus: RTS ODIN

As the big brother to the RTS OMS, our powerful 1U ODIN Matrix units have been providing talkback solutions for some of our larger productions.

With multiple connectivity options including IP OMNEO, Analog, and remote RVON, ODIN adapts to any environment.

You can link up to a total of eight ODIN units via an optical Inter-Frame Link to create a single matrix with up to 1024 ports. Plenty of room as your production grows!

ODIN is compact, flexible, and powerful – everything modern broadcast teams need.

You may have caught our logo indent on this weeks episode of Michael McIntyre's Big Show! We again provided the show with our 'TV hacking' skills to ensure only hit Ruth saw the specially made version of Olly Murs 'Who Do You Think You Are'.

This time we had the challenge of replicating the BBC One satellite channel on a SkyQ unit, taking the remote control signals from the lounge back to our control hide (a neighbours garage!) to control the transport and add appropriate Sky graphics on top of the playback.

We supplied show comms equipment for the rugby league two-match international ABK Series between England and Samoa for sports presentation producer Elev8

The system was designed around RTS Intercom Systems wired and RIEDEL Communications International wireless to connect people across the 2 stadiums.

Thanks to Elev8 for bringing us on board for these matches and to our engineer Jon Ash for looking after it for us.

Last weekend saw the final match of 15 at Wembley this year, working providing show comms for long term client EVENT360. Matches included the prestigious Carabou and FA Cup finals as well as several England home friendly matches for both the mens and womens football teams.

We supplied our RTS Intercom Systems OMS intercom unit with a mix of Dante native panels and DBP beltpacks. This allowed us to accept audio feeds and have end points located across the stadium with ease via our Netgear AV line switches using the on-site fibre backbone.

For larger matches we also supplied a 20 beltpack stadium wide RIEDEL Communications International Bolero system using the same network and our new Fibre POE boxes, which allow a single core of fibre to be converted to copper with POE for powering RIEDEL Communications International Bolero antennas or RTS Intercom Systems beltpacks.

Big thanks to EVENT360_Sport for bringing us onboard, our RF supplier Creative Technology our logistics partner Hyperdrop and all the freelance engineers who helped us make these events fantastic.

At the weekend we were honoured to be asked by the iconic Royal Albert Hall to provide show talkback solution for this years Olivier Awards. Supplying an RIEDEL Communications International matrix sitting on a backbone of our Netgear AV Line switches, including links to OB provider Timeline Television

Challenges for technical lead Ian Threlfall included providing wireless Bolero coverage all the way from the bottom of the stairs outside the hall right through the building for Tom Francis performance from the nights big awards winner Sunset Boulevard.

We were thrilled to be invited back to London Excel by Flux Broadcast to deliver another Pokemon EUIC. Supplying 170 ports of RTS Intercom Systems and audio networking for all 4 galleries via a backbone of Netgear AV line switches including our new M4350 12X12F core.

From 2023 we increased the sitewide RIEDEL Communications International Bolero count to 60 packs and Glensound Inferno commentary positions up to 12 with a total of 130 Dante audio devices connected across the network with no service interruption.

The technical lead for us was Ian Threlfall. Our on site team was Tom Mann, Sam Mannis, Olly Steel and Chris Moore. We'd like to thank Flux Broadcast for trusting us with the event again and all of our great suppliers in Creative Technology, Autograph and Plus4 Audio.
