This past weekend, the Nightmarket team braved the I-5 and headed down to Seattle for Monster Jam — because when you’re working on the IP, you need to experience the madness firsthand.
..And what a show it was!

Roaring engines, backflips, donuts, and some of the most passionate fans we’ve ever seen. Getting up close with the Monster Jam universe only deepened our appreciation for what makes it such an iconic franchise.

Let’s just say: the creative engines are officially revved.

What a whirlwind! Thank you Pocket Gamer Connects for having us! It's always a great time getting to meet up with old friends like Joshua Nilson, Solomon Ruiz-Lichter, and Paul Thind, and meet new ones like Sergei Vasiuk!

This year the conference was thriving and the energy was palpable. After yet another year of misery for the game industry, spirits were still high and there was cautious optimism for the near future.

Unlike past years, the hope lay in emerging frontiers like web gaming, third-party payment platforms, UGC platforms, and games based on IPs established in other media.

Oh, and AI. 🤖

It makes us hopeful that creative and technical talent will soon figure out a new way forward that isn’t so reliant on established models that have become entrenched in the games industry over the last decade.

Revenue is great, but has it come at the cost of creativity? We went through some dire times, but it really does feel like the industry is about to explode with new game concepts, monetization ideas, and forms of engagement.

That’s why we love PGC London: It’s such a positive way to kick off a new year.

Last Friday, the team got together to celebrate 2024 in our year end all-hands meeting. We rented out a space at the YWCA Metro Vancouver where 100% of the profits go towards their initiatives to help women and children.
