At The Movies show began in 2012 at the Barony park while the Cat was broadcasting online.
Presenter Stuart was the originator of the show and still presents today along with Will who joined in 2023. Special mention to Jen who was with the show from 2012 until 2000.
A big thank you to all volunteers who started it all back in the 90s and everyone who have been part of the journey!
HAPPY 32ND ANNIVERSARY YOUTH FM - THE STATION THAT STARTED IT ALL!
On this day, on the 16th of August 1993, Youth FM went on air to the people of Crewe and Nantwich and began a local community radio revolution.
The station was launched as part of the Mayor of Crewe and Nantwich's celebration of youth campaign for that year, with pupils and students from all around the area coming together to create shows for this 28-day broadcast above the old Prospects Shop on Market Street in Crewe.
Community radio in our area has gone through various changes over the years, including Your FM in 1994 and Witch FM in 1999/2000. It would be another 8 years until The Cat arrived on the scene in 2008. Broadcasting from The M Club on High Street before moving to the Barony Business Park, The Cat would find its home at Cheshire College South & West. In 2015, we won our licence to broadcast as a full-time local radio station on FM. We then won our DAB licence in 2023.
From 28-day broadcasts to streaming to being on air full time for the last 10 years, one thing has never changed...
YOU, the community.
The hundreds of presenters who have been on the air over the last 32 years have served the People of Crewe & Nantwich the only way they know - with great chat, supporting local groups and businesses, and playing the best music, all with you, the listener, at the centre.
We are forever thankful for your continued support, so from everyone who has been a part of our community radio stations over the years, thank you for listening.
