Every year Cubing China releases a summary of everyone's year in cube competitions - kind of like a Spotify wrapped for cubing. And as you can see from mine, it wasn't my best year for results. This was the first year size 2010 where I've competed in 2x2 more than once and never won. I got 3 PRs - a lucky 25 FMC single (I actually got 2 25s in one round), a very lucky 24 FMC single, and a lucky 5.86 3x3 single.
It wasn't an entirely bad year for me in terms of cubing though. I had an incredible time at Worlds catching up with people I haven't seen in 4+ years, and the experience inspired me to get back into cubing more than I have been for a long time and try to break some PRs again. I'm now enjoying cubing and feeling closer to the community than I have in many years.
Given that I had been thinking of mostly stepping away from cubing this year, this was a huge change. 2023 didn't go at all how I expected, and it's hard to know what to expect in 2024. Swipe to see my goals and predictions 👀
