This week local Canberra Fishing Network member Grant, started well with some more Murray Cod and Golden Perch out of Lake Burley Griffin. He pointed out that there are a couple of hotspots around an island and the Eastern side of the Weston Park Peninsula.

Someone snapped a photo of a boat that seems to have the logo of a Marvel character on the side of it, also on the waters of Lake Burley Griffin. The boat belonged to another member of the group. He stated, "apart from the sunburn, he caught a couple of Golden Perch", but also met with a couple of mates for coffee that day too.

My good friend April and I ventured out to Kambah Pool for a swim/fish on one of the warmer days. Poor April didn't even make it to the river before slipping and mulching the skin on her knee 😪 Skinned knee and all, April still managed to enjoy a swim after the fall.

Whilst we were there, a young boy, likely around the age of 10 or 11, stopped and chatted to us. He was there by himself and was flicking swimbaits. He told us that he got a decent whack on the lure down stream a bit. I quickly warned him that down stream from the main beach, that he'll run into nudists. The boy had already found out the hard way. He said with a look of shock in his eyes, "yeh and most of them were dudes..." 🤦‍♂️😆
The Murrumbidgee is fishing well at the moment, another member posting a photo of his young fella with a solid early morning Cod from the river.

Another member posted within the CFN group a photo of a 40's model Rainbow that he had caught in Googong whilst trolling a Tassie Devil. One member commenting that the trout are in very good condition in Googong at the moment.

One member posted anom' to the CFN group chasing good fishing locations near Batemans Bay. He got some quite detailed responses with one member advising him that he covered some good spots with the maps photo's that he posted.

I had another good session at Yarralumla and posted within the group to see if anyone wanted 7 dispatched carp. Unfortunately there were no takers and the fish got fed to the green goblin in the carpark.

All in all another good week. Hope you all have a wonderful holiday period and stay safe whilst travelling.

Fingers crossed for some good conditions tomorrow, before it may rain in the afternoon/evening 🤞

My thoughts are with the victims, families of the victims and all those left traumatised from the chaos that unfolded in Bondi this evening.

Sometimes I just don't want to look at the news 😪

We've had a few warmer days this week and it certainly looks like several Canberra Fishing Network's members made the most of those days.

This week CFN members Shiv and Grant got out on the waters of Lake Burley Griffin. Grant and a couple of mates landing a few Cod and some smaller model Golden Perch. Shiv landing some decent green submarines in the Western basin of Weston Park, Yarralumla. Nice work guys!

CFN member Jory landed this chunky Redfin from his local pond. Solid fish, not many people realise that a lot of the smaller ponds around Canberra hold quite large Redfin. Particularly on the Northside of Canberra.

Another member looks to have had a productive evening at Point Hut Pond. Productive yousay?! Yes, not productive in terms of fish caught but productive in cleaning up the mess that a minority of seriously disrespectful people had left the area in. One member commenting that there is only a rubbish bin a short distance away! We definitely need to do better guys. This makes the whole fishing community look like grubs 😪

There was also an interesting discussion topic brought up within CFN this week in regards to eels. Many members saying that there are eels in the Molonglo and Lake Burley Griffin. One member stating that they are most likely "releases or escapees"! Have you caight or seen eels in or around Canberra?

Also looks like the Murrumbidgee was fishing quite well with one CFN member posting a photo of a healthy Murray Cod that his young fella caught early one morning.

Let's hope the weather becomes less erratic this coming week. Good to see so many getting out amongst it!

Stay safe and tight lines Legends 🎣🤟

Here's the scoop on why there has not been an announcement for the Down To Fish Aus giveaway for December 25. No sweat, they'll be back in January 26. Good ol' Cod being the target species!

Epic sesh here just now at Lake Burley Griffin! 3 Carp and a 60's Murray Cod 😊

With the wind howling as the sun was going down last night. Taco and I first tried the McDermott Pl boat ramp, however with the wind coming from the East, the water was choppy as heck, not a single bite. I decided to relocate to the Diddams Pl boat ramp, that way the wind would be blocked a little by the ridge behind us.

Sure enough within 20 minutes of relocating, I was on to a fish. Mid 60's model. The photo credit of me holding the fish go's to one of the of girls that were chilling in a car just up from me. Curiousity got the better of them after watching me reel it in and net it. They thought it was massive, should have seen the look on their faces when I told them it was only a baby 🤦‍♂️😅

Stay safe and tight lines 🐕🤟
