Rain falls hard on the plastic roof above us, and water seeps through the muddy floor beneath. I hold my child close, trying to keep him warm but itโ€™s not the rain that truly frightens me. Itโ€™s what comes next.

Will there be enough food tomorrow? Will the clinic have medicine if he falls sick again? Will safety ever return to our lives?

As a Rohingya refugee, every day is a battle, not just against hunger and hardship, but against the fear that the world has forgotten us. Weโ€™ve endured this exile for years, but our hearts still ache for home.

We need more than shelter, we need justice, protection, and the right to live freely in our homeland.

We opened our eyes to a world surrounded by barbed wire, tarpaulin walls, and ration lines. This camp is all weโ€™ve ever known. But itโ€™s not a home, itโ€™s a holding place, built on uncertainty and suffering. We donโ€™t want to live and die forgotten behind fences.

Every day, we hear talk of rights, of justice, of repatriation. But where is the real path out? Where is the international action to ensure our safe return with citizenship, dignity, and protection?

We were born stateless but we shouldnโ€™t have to die that way. We deserve more than survival. We deserve a future. We deserve the chance to grow, to belong, and to live on the land our parents once called home. Help us find the way back.

In the crowded refugee camps, danger hides in every corner โ€” especially for girls like me. We are taught to stay quiet, to stay inside, to stay afraid. Harassment is common, protection is rare, and justice feels impossible. Before I can dream of freedom, of education, of walking with confidence โ€” I must first be safe.

I want to feel secure stepping outside my shelter. I want to be seen not as a burden, but as a human being with hopes and rights. Freedom means nothing if I have to live in fear every single day.

To the world, I say: donโ€™t just speak about human rights โ€” act. Make our camps safer, make our voices heard, and help us return to a home where we can live not only freely, but fearlessly.

For most people, rain is a sign of renewal. But for us Rohingya living in overcrowded camps, monsoon season is a time of dread. Each downpour threatens to wash away our fragile shelters, to flood the few belongings we have, and to spread disease through the narrow alleys of the camp.

With every heavy rain, families brace themselves โ€” not for comfort, but for collapse. Children cannot sleep, mothers cannot cook, and elders sit silently, praying their plastic roofs donโ€™t give in. Landslides, contaminated water, and destroyed latrines turn our temporary existence into a nightmare.

We are not asking for luxury, only the right to live with basic safety. Our call is simple: protect us until we can return home with dignity. No one should have to fear the rain.

This isnโ€™t just a shocking figure, itโ€™s a crisis unfolding before our eyes. In Bangladeshโ€™s Rohingya camps, nearly half of all children younger than five are struggling with malnutrition, putting them at a dramatically higher risk of illness and death.

A recent UNICEF report highlights a worrying 27% surge in severe acute malnutrition cases in just a month, more than 38 young lives requiring emergency care every single day. These children did not choose this fate. They are innocent victims born into statelessness and suffering. When food rations keep shrinking already halved to less than $6 a month in some cases. Their futures are stolen before they even begin.

We sound the alarm: No child should grow weak from hunger. No family should live in fear that their child wonโ€™t survive because of lack of food or medicine. This is not charity, itโ€™s a matter of justice, human dignity, and the right to life. Our children are not statistics, they are our future. The world must act now.

As Rohingya, we carry deep wounds of homes burned, families lost, and dignity stripped away. We live in overcrowded camps, trapped between uncertainty and broken promises. Every day is a struggle: for food, for safety, for a future that still feels far away.
We call on the world to stand with us not just in words, but in action. Justice delayed is justice denied. Let us go home with rights, with dignity, and with the freedom we were born to have.

This statistic is more than a numberโ€”itโ€™s a stark reality of stolen childhoods and fractured futures. When only 25% of children can attend basic education, the majority are left without hope, trapped in a cycle of limbo and unfulfilled potential.

For Rohingya families, education represents much more than learning letters and numbersโ€”itโ€™s the promise of a future beyond the camps, a step toward dignity, and a chance to break free from the horrors we fled. We call on governments, NGOs, and educational institutions around the world: invest in our children. Open schools in the camps, supply materials and qualified teachers, and protect safe learning spacesโ€”especially for girls. No child deserves to grow up in a world without knowledge, a world that forgets them. Education is a rightโ€”a lifelineโ€”to a brighter tomorrow. Letโ€™s make it available to every Rohingya child, before another generation is lost.

We donโ€™t want to live as refugees forever โ€” this life of waiting, surviving, and struggling is not what we deserve. We were forced to flee our homeland in fear, but we carry our identity and our memories with us every day.

Our hearts long for Myanmar โ€” not just as a place, but as the land where we belong. We want to return, but not to face the same horrors again. We want to go back with full rights, guaranteed safety, and the dignity every human being deserves.

Living in exile has taken a toll on our lives, our childrenโ€™s futures, and our hopes. We are not asking for privilege โ€” we are demanding justice. A safe, dignified, and voluntary repatriation must be ensured, and it must begin with restoring our citizenship and protecting our communities. Let the world hear us clearly: we want to go home. We donโ€™t want to survive on charity forever โ€” this was never our choice. We are not just victims waiting for handouts; we are farmers, teachers, builders, and parents who once lived with dignity on our own land. What we lost was not just homes and belongings, but our identity, our rights, and our future.

Living in refugee camps may keep us alive, but it cannot restore what was taken from us. We want to return to our homeland โ€” to live freely as Rohingya, with citizenship, security, and justice. The Arakan Army claims to fight for freedom, but we, the Rohingya, are paying the price with our lives. They say they are liberators โ€” but who are they liberating when their bullets hit innocent families, when our homes are raided, and our people are killed or forced to flee once again? We fled from the Myanmar military only to face a new fear โ€” a new force that sees us not as fellow human beings, but as targets. Our children are terrified, our elderly are helpless, and our youth are either caught in the crossfire or silenced by fear.

This is not liberation. This is another form of persecution. To the Arakan Army โ€” if your fight is truly for justice and freedom, stop killing the innocent. Stop targeting Rohingya civilians. We are not your enemies. We are people who just want to live in peace in our rightful homeland.
