Happy New Year, everyone! May 2025 be a great year for poetry! One of the best parts of 2024 for us was getting to know other poets and helping them meet all of you. We are ringing it in with Wolf Twin Review's December Featured Poet, Alan Abrams. This interview was so delightful! He submitted a poem to us back in April. We were not only impressed with Alan's talent, but by his inspiring story.

Other writers who absorbed more wisdom before becoming serious writers: Laura Ingalls Wilder, Bram Stoker, Mark Twain, Thomas Hardy, William Butler Yeats, Robert Frost, Wallace Stevens, William Carlos Williams, Marianne Moore, Elizabeth Bishop, Stanley Kunitz, and W.H. Auden.

Let this be a reminder to us all in 2025: "It's never too late to begin a writing career."

Welcome to the Wolf Pack, Alan!

Introducing: Alan Abrams . . . a motorcycle mechanic, carpenter, construction honcho, bootleg architect, and retiree turned burgeoning poet

All Souls’ Night

Time, laid down in soil
Year upon year remembered
In dirt and buried relics.
We walk the contours of history
Stand on the enormity of millennia.

May the 4th be with you! The force of our shared love for distant planets and alien cantinas, brings us together. Today, we celebrate the stories and moments that inspired us growing up. Within a child’s imagination, infinite power lives. Even a single coin—dropped in a parking lot—held enough magic to fuel starships. Let’s never forget how oversized movie screens filled our hearts, opened our tiny minds to possibilities, and taught us the importance of shaping our dreams into reality.

This new Wolf Twin pairing is dedicated to you, our fellow dreamers. Never stop reaching for the sky!

National Poetry Month Day 29. Can you hear it? The light ti**le and timpani beat of rain upon the roof—the sweet music of sky, dousing the land. How it stirs us, just as plants soak and grow stronger, we tuck in and rest, or reflect. To drift off amongst the drizzle, remembering those precious scenes that only petrichor conjures . . . that is what this poem is all about.

Memoirs of the Rain by Robin Amaral

Dazzled by the night
I drift into the morning haze
upon cobbled dreams
listening to the rain
pouring memories
on this street, this morning
a song unmistakable
haunting, beautiful
a shadow
a light
and your face

Our Story

Zombie Logic Press has been called "The most dangerous small press in America" by NPR. It was founded in 1997 by Thomas L. Vaultonburg to publish his book Detached Retinas, and subsequently published his books Flesh Wounds and Submerged Structure, but after heart surgery in 2013 Vaultonburg was inspired to publish books by other writers from his hometown, Rockford, Illinois. The Rock River Literary Series was established to do that. The series is dedicated to Frank Schier, the maverick publisher of the Rock River Times who suggested Rockford have such a literary presence before his passing in 2017.
