Hi listeners! It's been a while! Another episode is on it’s way very soon...
In the meantime, some of you may be wondering why the Moon is so huge right now! Well, my Dad has the answer…
“Generally speaking, the Moon is moving away from us BUT the Moon’s orbit is elliptical, that means it doesn’t stay the same distance away from the Earth as it goes round. Its orbit is an oval shape rather than a circle. When it is closer, like all things that are closer, it looks bigger! When it’s further away… well Father Ted can tell you that. If it’s at its closest during the full moon then it’ll be particularly dramatic, not only bigger but substantially brighter.”
Oh, and the orange colour? That's the moonlight passing through the Earth's atmosphere! It'll get less orange as it rises and the atmosphere is thinner and less dusty! See - I do listen! ~ Beth xx
