Damn Good Voices is a boutique voiceover agency with around 300 voices. All are trained actors and are used to working across different media, be it TV commercials, radio, corporate, documentary or pretty much anything that requires a great voice.

Oh dear. This is a major issue for most creatives as so much of what we do is protected by NDA’s. Does the clause put us in breach? I’m guessing so.

We are looking at alternate file sharing platforms for all actor and voiceover content as this clause bothers us greatly. Maybe all actors, studios and other creatives should explore their terms. Kinda worrying really.

Equity is calling for “urgent action” on AI following a new report launched this week which calls for the ‘preservation of human originality’ and ‘ongoing impact assessments’, following the input of Equity members.

The article outlines how the current approach to AI was equivalent to “legalising theft” of creatives’ work, through data scraping and use without knowledge, consent or remuneration. See link in bio and share as wide as you can.

To continue our Ai theme, here’s the next poster designed to raise awareness of companies unlawfully using professional voice artists voices. Some who have mis-sold their offering and continue to abuse the rights of performers. It’s got to stop.

Here’s the next Ai related poster designed to continue the discussion relating Ai silencing voice actors active. Keep sharing these, the more aware everybody is, the more it will be talked about.

Authenticity in VO is essential, as the majority of VO work is ‘theatre of the mind’. We cannot see you, we can just hear you, so your performances need to feel authentic and relevant to the target demographic for whom the content is designed to reach. Not sure Ai can do this.

As Ai is such a hot topic in the office, between talent & agents and unions & clients, we will be posting a range of ‘posters’ containing a range of related quotes from staff and talent. Please share these widely to help raise awareness of the issue and to help ensure you have an industry to be part of in the future.

Already we can see mega brands trying to silence your voices by replacing you with Ai, all to just increase their market share at your cost.

So don’t fall silent now. Stand up and be heard.

What is a story without a connection?
You may already have seen the announcement from about the introduction of 100+ Ai voices to be made available to replace actors. This is clearly not OK. Human voices carry emotion and a connection to content whereas Ai only carries data and that a voice without soul is just noise.
Please fight for the rights of performers and help ensure they have a future.
