Mads Mikkelsen has become quite the celebrity over the past few years. He's the star of the gone-too-soon show Hannibal, he was Jyn's father in Rogue One, and soon he'll be the (presumably) bad guy in Death Stranding. But how well do any of us know the Danish gymnast-turned-actor? Well, if an interview with The Short List is any indication, the man at least has a good head on his shoulders.

When asked if he'd ever had a particularly bad auditions, Mikkelsen said that indeed he had. "I’ve had tons of them. We’ve all been there. We all show up and it’s a little office room with a desk and some books and they want you to do a scene where you have two lines – maybe not even two lines – maybe just 'Bleurgh!' or 'Get back!'"

"And you’re hiding behind a palm tree that’s not there. It’s like, 'Guys, couldn’t you have picked a different kind of scene to this? This is fu***ng mad.' You feel like an idiot," he said. Recalling a particularly bad audition as Dr. Doom, Mikkelsen said, "I think I walked out on the Fantastic Four one. I think I actually said, 'I can’t do it. It’s not about you, I’m sorry, this is wrong.'"

Thankfully, the act didn't seem to sour Mikkelsen's relationship with Hollywood too much, and he traded in the role of Dr. Doom for a role in Doctor Strange. Unsurprisingly, Mikkelsen had nothing but kind words for his co-star Benedict Cumberbatch, even going so far as to say the Brit "had a very nice odor."

Other topics Mikkelsen briefly touched on: arm wrestling, Thai food, and the best way to murder someone. Oh, that scamp.
