New Year’s 2023,
I wrote “Quit 9-5 by April.”
I stuck it on my wall.

By the end of January,
I lost my 3 clients.
I laugh about this now.
At the time, I was shooketh.
I had to restart.

In March 2023,
I gave a one-month notice.
I haven’t looked back since.

They say to write out your goals,
You’re 42% more likely to achieve them.

My goal this year is to update all my internal processes and training. This will allow us to deliver even better results for our clients at Marketing Bound and scale even further.

What’s your 2025 business goal?
And more importantly, did you write it down?

People will question everything except for their own decisions.

Steal my Social Media Process for $1m+ Clients.

It's not guesswork.
It was trial and error.
Now, it's a clear and repeatable process that works.

Don’t hesitate to steal this for your processes:

1. Understand the brand & the target audience.
2. Dive deep into industry research.
3. Craft a content strategy and plan.
4. Write scripts that connect with the audience.
5. Schedule posts with Metricool.
6. Track and adjust with monthly analytics.

Does it look similar to your process?

I had a strange conversation with someone on TikTok.

He was asking how to create videos without being in them.

He said he doesn’t like being on camera.
He also doesn’t want to be an influencer.

So many points to address:

1ïžâƒŁ
Yes, you can technically use AI for your videos.
You can have an employee be the face of your videos.
However, if your business makes under $1 million a year,
YOU ARE the business.

You’re clients will end up working with you.
It’s best to be in your own videos.

This person did not understand that video creation is a huge part of brand building online. Without being in the videos, he is outsourcing the most important opportunity for growth in his business.

2ïžâƒŁ
Unfortunately, influencers have a bad reputation.
So this person did not want to associate with them.
But let’s be honest about influencers.
They’re disciplined and creative.
They’re constantly trying new messaging to see what resonates with their audiences.

They’re on top of trends.
They execute quickly and efficiently.
They work with many vendors and meet different expectations.
Being “an influencer” is not a bad thing.

3ïžâƒŁ
The best way to get comfortable on camera
Is to record videos without posting them.
Just record to record.
Practice being in front of a camera,
Without any consequences.

TL;DR:
Show up for your brand in your videos.
Building your brand online is different from being an influencer.
Being on camera takes practice.

In the end, every business owner needs to be a content creator.

Examples of how I’ve been “misunderstood” in business:

đŸŸȘChoosing to work on my business instead of attending a function.

đŸŸȘChoosing to start a business instead of keeping a 9-5.

đŸŸȘThinking that wanting more means I’m not happy with what I have.

đŸŸȘPeople thinking “collaborations” mean I will do work for free.

đŸŸȘDeciding to invest in my business, brand, or myself.

đŸŸȘDeciding not to pay myself right away and reinvesting in the business.

For all Justin Welsh fans,
Who are entrepreneurs,
And building a life of freedom.

I have a question.

There were a few viral videos on TikTok
Showing people who were working on vacation.

For example, someone taking a call while walking in the streets of Spain or while on the beach in the Bahamas.

Everyone in the comments:
“Omg that’s so terrible.”
“Where is the balance???”
“Hustle culture is the worst.”

Personally, I disagree entirely.

As a business owner,
I work at random times of the day.
I check emails when I’m a passenger in a car.
I’ll respond to a team member as I’m going to bed.

But I can also go to an appointment at 2pm on a Tuesday. I can go grocery shopping on Thursday morning.

Building a life of freedom means my schedule is flexible. Taking a call on vacation does not mean I’m obsessed with work that I “can’t stop working.”

I have a flexible schedule.
That’s the freedom.

It just doesn’t look like everyone else’s schedule.
And so people get upset.

Thoughts?

P.S. This is a picture my sister took when I emailed a client on our Portugal trip last year.

Please stop making it hard for people to work with you.

I see too many law firms make leads take more than 3 steps just to book a call with them.

You will get more leads by making the process simpler.

I'll give you an example of a clients old process and the new process I recommended.

Old way:
Fill out contact form.
Secretary reaches out to book a meeting.
Secretary follows up when lead doesnt answer.
Secretary calls lead if they still don't answer.

Obviously, most leads disappeared.

New way:
Book a meeting directly in a calendar on website and pay upfront.

That's it.

Your social media can only get you so far with a bad sales process.

Fix your sales process and improve your lead generation.

P.S. I looked up the first immigration law firm on Google and it took 3 steps just to contact them.

Realtors, get more leads by getting your audience OFF the social media platforms.

Social media is there to help you reach those buying or selling their homes. But your relationship with them won’t leave the platform until you tell them to take action.

That means, give them ONE call-to-action.
Give them ONE thing to do to take the next step in your relationship.

This can look like:
- Booking a call
- Requesting a quote
- Signing up for a newsletter

(I linked a website with 40 calls to action in the comments below.)

Moral of the story:
Get more leads by getting leads OFF the social media platforms.

Social media is replacing SEO.
Your next client is more likely to find you here than Google.

Here’s a quick playbook for you:

—> Build an engaged community where your ideal clients are.

—> Lead them to your owned channels:
Newsletter
Private group
Consultations

The goal?
Turn every social interaction into long-term connections and real business.

Which do you prefer: social media or Google SEO?

I started a UGC business before Marketing Bound.

I saw a gap in the market.

Many people were getting into UGC without understanding marketing. I thought I could guide them on using the right language to get more clients.

(UGC = User Generated Content)

I created a product, a YouTube channel and a website within a week of finding this gap.

I started selling my digital product right away.

$8 a pop.

One YouTube video generated over $500 in sales within a year.

Needless to say, my business model had flaws, but I had a solid lead flow.

I knew people were typing in “UGC” into YouTube.
They wanted help.
My content was on the right platform.

The customer journey looked like this:
- People search for UGC portfolios.
- My video pops up.
- They watch the video.
- They can purchase the template.

A lot of professional services I talk to don’t realize that their clients are actively looking to solve their problems. They may not be actively looking for your name, but they do have a lingering problem they want to solve in the back of their minds. So even when they are mindlessly scrolling social media, your video can help them take the next step in their journey to solving their problem.

By posting consistently, you get in front of more people who are looking to solve their problems.

That's how you generate a steady stream of leads from social media.

The difference between a good post and a bad post đŸ€”

As I build internal training for my team, I’ve been thinking about what “good” looks like.

It’s not enough to analyze influencer posts.

Because they have found what works for them.

You can’t compare your step 1 to their step 10.

Also, they have already built a following that will like anything they post.

So, I wanted to boil down what makes a really good post.

We know a bad post is sales-y, not relatable and makes you want to scroll.

An okay post may be interesting, but it doesn’t intrigue you to learn more.

The best post is one that provides clarity to your audience and builds momentum, encouraging people to take action.

Would you agree with this breakdown?
