The Freedom Garden music venue began when a group of roommates decided to clean up a pile of
rotten wood, scrap metal, and corroded batteries. After three years of hosting performances in a
terrible, over-priced apartment in Bushwick, Brooklyn NYC the roommates decided to release music on
tape cassettes. The Freedom Garden isn’t a place it’s a state of mind…
The Freedom Garden record label pres
ents and supports advance music of every
genre; whether that music be advancing in complexity, conceptualism, or social
issues. By organizing performances and
releasing tapes The Freedom Garden is helping underrepresented
artists that are truly making art. The business model is a non profit to the extreme with all of the money
going to the artist after the low cost of the cassettes are covered. The Freedom Garden is based in NYC.
