NEW FOR PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE!
This piece features whisper chants, singing, and shouting for all players in the ensemble. As indicated on this score, the players are to be divided into two groups. Throughout the piece, each player will also need to read the staff corresponding to the group number they are assigned to. Based on these assignments, each group staff is directly available on each of the parts accordingly.

I’m retired now, but I still love coming down to San Antonio for the TBA convention in July (yes, July—what were we thinking?) and the TMEA convention in February. It’s always a great time to catch up with old friends, meet new ones, and take in some fantastic concerts and clinics. My wife enjoys the quiet hotel time to get some work done, and we always cap the day with a nice dinner on the Riverwalk.

This morning, I walked into the exhibit hall and immediately saw the J.W. Pepper booth right up front. I was just passing by on my way to visit someone else when a title caught my eye—Alleluia No. 1. I thought, “Wait… I have a piece by that name.” I circled back, and sure enough—it was mine! That’s when I realized I had six pieces on J.W. Pepper’s Editor’s List this year. I looked around and found three of them; when I asked about the others, they said they might have already sold. It won’t pay for the trip—or even lunch—but it still made my day.
