I'm very excited: I'll be the moderator in charge of interviewing the author of Dog Is Love: Why and How Your Dog Loves You at the Tucson Festival of Books in March. If suspect it'll be a great turnout. Who doesn't want proof that their dog isn't only in it for the food?

I received the following email this morning, and was intrigued enough (especially by the lower case "trump") to follow the link it directed me to.

"I was wondering if this trump dog toy I launched was something you wanted to work with on your site."

I'm not sure how I would work with it on my site -- Madeleine is not particularly interested in squeaky toys, so there's little video potential -- but it might make a good gift for those with dogs who are, um, tough on their playthings. I don't personally think the face is orange enough, the mouth pouty enough, or the tie long enough. But it'll do as a surrogate, "love him or hate him," as the site says, hedging its bets.

Good news from the dog rescue world. And the fact that so much changed in the last ten years has got me thinking that maybe it's time to write a new book -- called, perhaps, Will My Dog Hate Me.

A cultural transformation: Spaying and neutering are now the norm, and rescue adoption is growing in popularity.
