While we were in Rome, we visited the Jewish Ghetto—the walled quarter where Jews were once confined, restricted, and silenced. Created in 1555, it’s the oldest Jewish ghetto in the world. For over 300 years, it held our people behind gates—stripped of rights but never stripped of spirit.

During WWII, when the N***s invaded Rome, they went there. They rounded up Jewish families and loaded them onto trains to the concentration camps. Most never returned.

Now, the streets are lined with gold Stumbling Stones—each one etched with a name. A human being. Taken from that very spot. Never forgotten.

And then, something sacred happened.
We stumbled upon a small shop run by the sweetest old man named Gabrielle—a Jewish artisan devoted to the Hebrew alphabet and his heritage. We talked. We listened. We went into the basement of his workshop.

David and I could feel our grandparents with us. Their presence. Their prayers. Their pride.

We brought home a new mezuzah from Gabrielle’s shop and placed it on the door of our new home. A threshold of remembrance. A threshold of return.

My mother was born and raised in Israel. The line of wisdom and love that flows through my veins—from the wise women in my family who stayed up into the early hours of the morning in deep, soul-stirring conversation—is alive in me. It has always been there.
My grandfather survived the holocaust. Tragically his parents and brother did not.

Somewhere along the way, in my 20s & 30s I lost connection to my Judaism.

That connection has returned. And it deepens with each passing day.
I have never been prouder to be a Jewish woman.

I’m curious which of the examples in today’s carousel feel familliar to you...tell me.

For me, in my previous identity, it was control, tolerating and self-judgement.

Can I just tell you how fu***ng incredible my inner environment feels now that I have become a woman who embodies trust, tolerates nothing less tham everything I desire, and am void of judgement.
Yes, really.
