Please, help if you can - this iconic venue will be no more
🚨🚨CALL TO ARMS AND HELP! 🚨🚨🙏
After all the furore from when I initially shared a pic of Cumbria’s highest pub the Kirkstone Pass Inn, I’ve had comms from lots of journos, more info here ➡️https://fb.watch/Ag5AtNIHek/?
They all see a big story about how this iconic and historical inn will be forever closed to the public to become a “luxury” Airbnb 💔
I’d like to THANK BIG TIME some of you who’ve contacted me in private from afar or locally 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I’ve been informed by a kind lady that the large car park outside the inn is actually part of the property rights and the new Manchester based owner “Supreme Escapes” is seeking to close it to the public once the lease ends in the next year or so! 😳😳🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
As I’ve said before, there’s parking for coaches up there by the 591, a bus stop and more!! The Lake District National Park Authority only have a temporary lease on the car park! 😳
Folk would park up and pile into the historic inn after admiring the views and have a pint or scran.
Fell races, bikers, backpackers and walkers to folk in cars would visit Cumbria’s highest inn which happened to be the third highest such establishment in the UK! All within a UNESCO World Heritage Site. And now? That all is set to change thanks to ‘Supreme Escapes’ 😢😢😢
Anyway, my journo friend is keen to hear from any of you be it locally or afar for a news story!
They’re seeking images and stories of all sorts 👍🙏
I trust the journo as they care about Cumbria and aren’t daft with facts or the outdoors. They’ll do a good piece to share far and wide with other journos and editors of news sites to magazines and more.
There’s a big story to share here as I’m sure many of you will appreciate with regard to corporate interests, overtourism and how such things happen to historical places within Lakeland.
For my sins, I ask folk to message me in private on this page if you’re interested in talking to the journo and sharing stories and images of this iconic inn and its history. Be it personal or otherwise.
🔔PLEASE NOTE! 🔔 I’ll likely respond by just saying thanks and sharing the journos email with you and then you can tell them the rest.
I’m no journo. I’m just Terry 😊👍 So, please don’t think I’m rude with regard to the latter - albeit I might well respond at times but I really fancied a day offline tomorrow! 😉🐿️📸
And finally, this lovely image in my post was sent to me by a follower featuring relatives visiting the Kirkstone Pass Inn. Lovely innit! 😊❤️
Such scenes then or even now will be no more eh.
Albeit such scenes of late feature bikes, cyclists, buses, backpackers, fellrunners and cars et al 😉🤣🤣
My late friend the legend that is Joss Naylor MBE would stop at the Kirkstone Pass Inn on his runs 😢🌈
Can’t do that anymore eh.
A place that was popular locally and afar. A beautiful old inn and now ruined both outside and inside to become a “luxury” Airbnb…that helps NOWT to the local economy (unless ya the big supermarkets) or COMMUNITY and HERITAGE of the area 💔😢
