Kemi and Kiki originally met years ago while attending their alma mater Elon University and have remained close friends ever since! Kiki has worked in higher education since 2013 by serving as a college prep advisor and currently works as an academic advisor for a large community college. Kemi has her Master’s in Higher Education Administration and has worked in postsecondary technical and private

institutions for over five years, and currently serves as a graduate academic advisor. One afternoon in late July, while catching up over Zoom the two began talking about college expenses and discussing what they wished they would have known before applying to an undergraduate program. Though they had loved their undergraduate experience and wouldn’t have traded it for anything….they wished that their high school selves would’ve done more research about university costs, alternatives to college, picking a major, and scholarships before selecting a college program - and signing off on the LARGE price tag that went along with it. That conversation sparked an idea to create a podcast where they could provide guidance to parents and teenagers on how to plan for life after high school. They would also share information for adult learners interested in furthering their education or returning to complete their degree. The podcast would discuss how families can begin their college search, alternative options to college, how to determine their future career, and more! Through this podcast, they’d share their personal experiences and knowledge of working in higher education with families to help them plan for their future. Episodes of “Your Advisors Will See You Now” will begin on October 5th and new episodes will air every Tuesday.

Did you know? Applying early for FAFSA can increase your teen’s chances of getting more financial aid. Many schools and states award funds on a first-come, first-served basis—so the earlier, the better!

📅 FAFSA is expected to open in October. Now is the time to gather your tax returns, W-2s, and other required documents so you can apply as soon as it launches.

✅ Early action = better chances for grants, scholarships, and work-study opportunities that don’t need to be repaid.

👉 Parents: help set your teen up for success by preparing now and applying early!

My mother is the reason why I work in education. My mother opened her own daycare when I was born and it’s been operating for 35 years. My passion, perseverance, creativity, and silliness all come from her. What a blessing it is to be her daughter. She was and truly is special. Rest in the peace you deserve mom. 🕊️
