Welcome to Part 1 of this 3-part cortisol series—requested by a brilliant friend + follower who asked me to talk about cortisol.
👉 Cortisol is your body’s main stress hormone. It’s released by your adrenal glands and helps regulate:
• Your stress response
• Blood pressure
• Blood sugar
• Inflammation
• Your circadian rhythm (a.k.a. sleep/wake cycle)
We need it. But as we age, things change:
✅ Chronic stress stacks up
✅ Estrogen and progesterone (which help buffer cortisol) decline
✅ Sleep gets messier
✅ Inflammation becomes more common
The result? Your once-steady cortisol rhythm starts to act like it’s had three double espressos and no boundaries.
✨ You’re not more dramatic. Your biology is just shifting.
👉 Stay tuned for Part 2, where we’ll dive into what cortisol looks like in perimenopause—and why it feels like your body is staging a full-on rebellion.
