I'll go over the timeline and facts surrounding the case and then watch the trial to see how this plays out.
🔹Lindsay Clancy, a labor and delivery nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital, is accused of killing her 3 children, Cora (5), Dawson (3), and Callan (7 months), in their Duxbury, Massachusetts home on January 24, 2023.

Clancy's parents began visiting frequently through November- December.

🔹Patrick Clancy’s mother (Sue Clancy, a nurse who had worked with Julie Paul and maintained a friendship) contacted Julie Paul at South Shore Health’s Perinatal Behavioral Health Program and asked her to reach out to Lindsay.
🔹Paul called Lindsay Clancy that same day from her personal cell phone for an initial phone screening to assess whether she was a good fit for the program.
🔹⚠️Paul obtained Clancy’s history and notes that Clancy had from seeing Dr. Jennifer Tufts.
Paul was also aware of (and noted) Clancy’s recent emergency room visit at South Shore Hospital.
🔹⚠️Clancy discussed medications she had previously used (including Prozac from her nursing school years) and concerns about current medications she was taking for sleep/anxiety.
Paul prescribed Prozac (and later adjusted to Ambien, Mirtazapine, and Klonopin) while coordinating short term care before transferring Clancy to another provider (Rebecca Jollotta) at the end of November as Paul was leaving the practice.

This is THE ONLY provider Clancy allowed to access her records from other providers.
This is THE ONLY provider who was aware of the medications Clancy was taking.
This is THE ONLY provider that Clancy is not suing.

🔹 Clancy completed an in person intake appointment at South Shore.
🔹Paul administered screening tools (including high scores indicating extreme anxiety and significant depression) and prescribed:

She claims she is not homicidal and does not have a su***de plan.
They advise her to seek outpatient care.

They cannot disclose information to a caller's doctors without consent except in emergency situations.

🔹 Clancy sees Dukes for a scheduled telehealth appointment.
She tells Dukes that she called ASPIRE.
She says ASPIRE told her she did not meet the criteria for inpatient treatment because she did not have a specific su***de plan.

She suggests that Clancy may have BPD (bipolar)

He continually said he believed Lindsay’s symptoms began after she started taking the medications.

🔹Lindsay and Patrick Clancy tell Rossi, the nanny, that Lindsay would not be returning to work and that the 2 of them would handle childcare themselves.
They parted on good terms.

🔹Patrick contacts Jollotta’s office saying Lindsay continues experiencing panic and suicidal ideation.

She liked how they made her feel at night but disliked how she felt when she woke up.

In response to the suicidal ideation, arrangements were made for her to begin a partial hospitalization program.
Her Edinburgh score was documented as 20.

She told him which medication she wanted.
Patrick initially described the conversation as “completely normal,” though he later testified it sounded as though she was in the middle of something.
She took the children to the basement and strangled them with exercise resistance bands (Cora and Dawson first, then Callan).
She then cut her wrists and neck, cut a hole in the screen and jumped from a second story bedroom window, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down.

He forced it open and found blood on the floor then saw Lindsay injured outside

Responding officers enter the home and proceed to the basement.
First responders begin lifesaving methods on all 3 children.

As long as she is still considered mentally ill and a danger to herself or others she'll remain in the facility.
🔹Clancy is NOT required to be in court
Under Rule 45 of Massachusetts Rules of Criminal Procedure Rule:
A defendant in custody who refuses to come to court or requests to be absent may have the trial proceed without them.
🔹Disruptive behavior can also lead to removal, after which the trial may continue.
The right to presence can be waived or forfeited.

Absolutely no one is disputing that fact.
The prosecutor is trying to prove that she planned the murders.

They were married in 2026.
There is no evidence, yet, that Patrick was having an affair and Lindsay found out about it.

🔹Patrick Clancy’s attorneys are sending cease and desist letters to content creators accused of defaming him with false statements, particularly conspiracy theories tying him to the deaths of his children.

🟡Lindsay Clancy doctor shopped and got prescriptions from 6 prescribers over 4 months.
3 different psychiatrists
2 nurse practitioners
and a doctor.
All of them using different provider networks so their systems couldn’t talk to each other and see the whole picture.
They only knew what Lindsay related to them.
She wasn't using the medications as prescribed or at all.
🟡I do think she was in a medication induced psychosis and not in her right mind.
She caused it herself, not the providers.
🟡After hearing everything today, I’m leaning toward NG.
If NG means she was in a state of psychosis because of her own choices to stop and start medications that you simply can’t mess with, then that fits.
I’m just not sure whether NG also implies fault.

🟡THESE ARE MY OPINIONS:
I think Monday we'll start to hear closing arguments, the jury will begin to deliberate Monday or Tuesday and they'll come back Wednesday with a NG verdict.
This is a very difficult case.
My opinion has changed every day while watching the trial.
I don't believe that Lindsay planned to murder her 3 children
I believe the medications were not used as prescribed.
I believe Lindsay has BPD and was not in psychosis when she killed her children

🔹Dr. Spinelli treated Lindsay for PPD.
She was the defense's "slam dunk".
🟡Speculation is that she will not be permitted to testify now due to her actions on social media.
Such as sharing content about a fundraiser for Lindsay’s parents, posts encouraging “wearing pink” for her, and other pro defense material.
🟡The social media posts and actions outside the court house on 8/19 would give prosecutors strong material for cross examination on bias or lack of impartiality, especially damaging for a forensic expert.
Defense attorney Kevin Reddington would not risk having the posts enlarged or aggressively used against her while testifying.
🔹She evaluated Clancy (in person and by phone, totaling about 8 hours more than a year after the January 2023 killings) and diagnosed bipolar disorder with psychosis and anxious distress with postpartum onset.
Her report/opinions have been referenced in related civil malpractice filings and during other witnesses’ testimony.
She was listed among the defense’s planned expert witnesses (alongside figures like Dr. Paul Zeizel and Dr. Phillip Resnick) for the postpartum psychosis/lack of criminal responsibility defense.

Here's what we're looking at this week in the trial in Massachusetts:
🔹The jury needs to determine if Lindsay Clancy was CRIMINALLY RESPONSIBLE
when she killed her 3 children.
It's not about whether she caused their deaths.
That is not disputed.
The focus is on her mental state AT THE TIME.
🔹CRIMINALLY RESPONSIBLE:
She understood what she was doing was wrong (or against the law), AND was able to control her actions and chose not to do it.
If a serious mental disease or defect took away that understanding or control, she is not criminally responsible.
Possible outcomes the jury can reach
🛑Guilty of murder=prison sentence
🛑Not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility=
she would remain at the psychiatric hospital until she is no longer a danger to herself or others.
The verdict must be unanimous.
🟡I think the jury will come back with Not Guilty.
I don't think the prosecution proved their case.
I wish the nest cam info would have been focused on more.
We don't know if there is an actual video of what she did.
⛔There was a rumor circulating online that she opened the nest cam app prior to Pat leaving that night.
I read all the transcripts and court docs,
That was never discussed anywhere and there is no official record of that.
If that DID happen that would prove premeditation.
⛔There was also a rumor circulated online that the cams were not working because the wifi was out.
That has never been verified or discussed.
The only mention of wifi not working is when Pat came home and tried to call 911.
He said it took a minute because WiFi was out.
⚠️Again, did Lindsay turn off WiFi prior to Pat leaving so the cameras didn't record?
That would also prove premeditation and the defense should present that evidence.
