First selection for 2025. Music for birds, droogs and other free spirits. RIP Nardo Ranks, who passed away just before x-mas. Not sure if anyone here cares about early 90s dancehall (I do). With tunes like “Burrup” and “New Jersey Drive” Nardo Ranks was at the forefront of the “ragga hip-hop” crossover that took place in New York and London around that time. Nardo never had Shabba Ranks status but was lucky to cut a deal with RCA where he released his very fitting titled debut-album “Rough Nardo Ranking” in 1992. The MPM playlist is curated by Olski. I like Bossa Nova. Midan likes Bossa Nova. The rhetorical follow-up question is: How can one not like Bossa Nova?

On many occasions Bossa Nova is the most beautiful music in the world. Midan would probably agree, but he cannot be reached for a comment. The young producer, DJ and digger left Cologne three weeks ago. His farewell message came with a folder full of music, that proves his deep love for Bossa, Samba and MPB.

Mildan was last seen behind the decks at 2Black Beer bar in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
