Two years. Two full years of Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza. And in all that time, the major Sunday morning news shows on NBC, ABC, and CNN, the programs that set the political agenda in Washington, have not once featured a Palestinian voice.
That’s right. Not a single Palestinian guest has appeared to speak about the starvation, bombing, displacement, and mass suffering that Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Médecins Sans Frontières / MSF, and the United Nations all recognize as a genocide. Instead, these shows have overwhelmingly amplified U.S. officials, Israeli officials, and other “official-sounding” voices—allowing them to define the narrative, justify the siege, and explain Gaza’s destruction to the American public.
Adam Johnson’s new article exposes this shocking media bias. Over 24 months, NBC’s Meet The Press, ABC’s This Week, and CNN’s State of the Union have hosted zero Palestinians, while giving repeated airtime to Israeli leaders, U.S. government officials, and even Benjamin Netanyahu himself. CBS’s Face the Nation managed a single 7-minute Palestinian interview in that entire period. Meanwhile, Palestinian-American voices—including Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, who has repeatedly called attention to the genocide—remain completely absent.
This isn’t just a failure of representation—it’s a deliberate shaping of the story. The most powerful Sunday shows in U.S. politics have created a narrative about Gaza without ever allowing the people living under siege to speak for themselves. The result? An audience fed a sanitized, one-sided version of genocide that obscures the reality of what’s happening on the ground.
If you want to understand how U.S. media has helped normalize the killing, starvation, and destruction in Gaza while silencing Palestinians, this is an essential read.
