DOWNTOWNâS MOMENTUM IS REAL
From Broad Street to Water Street, and Beauregard Street to Canal Street, Mobileâs Central Business District is seeing steady, visible progress. August 2025 brought a series of developments underscoring the districtâs growth:
⢠Amtrak passenger service resumed between Mobile and New Orleans for the first time in two decades.
⢠Deerfish Distilling opened as the cityâs first and only distillery.
⢠A proposed downtown hotel advanced after clearing a major rezoning hurdle.
⢠Construction moved forward at the future civic arena site.
⢠Vintage Verb (155 Dauphin St.) and I Do Bridal and Formal (157 Dauphin St.) prepared to open; Vintage Verbâs grand opening is set for Monday, Sept. 1.
⢠Crown Hall (656 St. Louis St.) and Alabama Music Box (659 Conti St.) neared launch, with Crown Hall hosting its first event next week.
⢠The Crescent Theatre, now operated by Comedy Mobile, will reopen Thursday, Sept. 4 with comedy and film programming.
⢠Jimmy Johnâs at 6 S. Royal St. is under renovation and will be paired with a Dunkinâ location.
⢠Alchemy Tavern completed a courtyard renovation; The Dumbwaiter Restaurant and The Royal Scam are making improvements.
⢠Townhome and apartment projects along St. Louis St. received key variances, advancing toward development.
